It's a team game so I don't believe one player makes a 74point deficit. Im dirty on him leaving, but facts are that momentum was a huge thing in that game, and when we were 19 points down, Jackson's mobility in the ruck helped score a few goals then. Not even close to a norm Smith performance and We don't win solely on him, but Serong and Young (gun players btw) don't fill that role. And that's not even talking about the 24 games he played last year too.

We can talk ifs and buts and all but We don't know if we win with Serong and Young. There's a chance we could have, but we don't know.

We do know that we do win with Jackson playing (and with him having a few goal assist at a crucial time) and that's enough for me to think that we drafted the right kid.
I certainly wasn't thinking "oh s**t Jackson could leave one day cos he's from WA, this is gonna set us back sooo far" when I was celebrating like a maniac that night lol
True, there's a lot of ifs and buts. No doubt we would've done better this year with either Young or Serong though as Jackson was pretty damn avg. Yes the delivery inside 50m wasn't great but Jackson isn't a one grabber, too many double take grabs.

lol yeah, because you're really across the draftees. You probably haven't even seen any of them play. Keep basing all of your opinions on mock drafts. lol. There's plenty of talented victorians to choose from.

You are right, I haven't seen any of them play. I have better things to do than try and pretend that I'm an AFL recruiter

There’s no way Melbourne would change a think with drafting Jackson. We won a flag and he was an integral player. Sucks he went home. I think going home was a huge pull and his manager did well to ensure he was paid well too. He’s probably on similar or more than Darcy now.

Completely agree pages of ifs and buts, at the end of the day we picked Jackson, we won the premiership and now he's gone, it's history time to move on.

Generally speaking, premierships are built through the draft so i've always found it a bit odd that people have a strong interest in winning the flag yet take no interest in the draft. You could argue they're the same thing. If you nail a draft or 2 you can win a flag off it.

Not everyone needs to seek vindication for their ego in every single aspect of their life. Some people just enjoy watching footy.

So we win a flag by 74 points and you think that without Jacksons 13 touches we lose? lol
Without Jackson throughout the year maybe we don't even make the GF.

Max was dominant and instrumental in our finish on top. Max's dominance was facilitated by his partnership with Jackson.

It wasn't just about the GF, it was 24 games across the season.

Why? It's not like Jackson was in our top 10 players in our BnF or anything. He was still a 15-18 sort of player. He contributed during the season just like Serong or Hayden Young would have.

Jackson going sets us back years, but also Jackson was just a bit part player who made no difference. It's actually ****ing embarrassing trying to follow along with this barnacle.

must be hard to follow. North losing JHF is a massive loss, despite him being a bit part player this season. It's about what they're expected to do in the future. Same goes for Jackson.

I must have missed the part where JHF was an integral part of North's premiership.

Sam Naismith take him as a rookie, bam done. Ruck division full don't need a shit young ruck prospect we will delist in 2 years anyway.

He last played in 2020, and that was for two games, he did his ACL and then has done it twice more (or at best had to under go surgery as the first attempt did not work).

I believe he is still undergoing recovery and he is now 30. Based on that he should be a hard pass.

Yeah you're right, he might stop us getting another Majak Daw who's onfield contribution to us was so big in the last 2 years

I get the theory and we should be looking at this if there’s a suitable candidate. But as mentioned. He’s 30. Coming off three knee recos. I don’t think he’s the man. But we do need some back up in reserve.

Majak Daw played 16 Games over the last two years for Casey and Sam Naismith played 2 games for Sydney Reserves.

I hear Dan Hannerbury is looking to continue his career as well.

As Crusty Demon said get someone from the lower leagues (and who has a great reputation for their work ethic and team play) and grab them. Or take a punt on a draftee with one of the last picks.

So both Majak and Naismith played 0 games for the senior team because it's the most useless backup position. He's got time to rehab, if he gets injured again you can replace him in the mid season draft with a ruck from the VFL. Simple

Whether it's Naismith or someone of the same ilk, that's all we need as a rookie ruckman. There will be someone out there who has played AFL games in the past without embarrassing themselves and could do so again in a pinch if required, and is prepared to play for a rookie wage. That's all we need.
