Do we have to trade those PP for a player.

Could we not just trade those to Gold Coast for their bounty of second rounders this year.

Similar to the Collingwood trade last year?
Has to be a player

If Clarke from St Kilda is gettable I'd throw our non-assistance Future 2nd and maybe Future 3rd pick swap at them.

Once that trades done then split pick 1 (3000) with GWS or Gold Coast.

GC pick 5 & 7 (3522)

GWS Pick 3 & 12 (3502)

Paying (500) points to get the exact player you want.

GC Trade possibly more likely.
Why would anyone make that split when there isnt a clear no.1 after ashcroft?

wonder if there are still any games scheduled for skinner reserve this season, better get down there to see if there are any diamonds in the rough to fill those 2 rookie spots with given we have no trading colateral to pick anyone in the main draft.

its actually such a crap package i would have been more pleased if they just said they just said thats it no more PPs, at least we would know we wouldnt be shafted any more in the future. but we all know the AFL would simply put them back on the table when one of their pet franchises falls on hard times again.

Holy s**t , that is one hell of an ass smashing we just received
Just been ****ed nicely. It's actually hilarious. We'll pick up Logue and probably no one else that's decent with that shit. Not only rubbish picks (completely divergent from precedent) but also being told how to use them! What campaigners!

We should package up “live picks” in any trade.

I.e Brad Hill and we give them future 3rd and get back their future 2nd

Probably right, might have to wait a year and get him in a front loaded contract via the PSD

I think you gents can put the Clark talk to rest if you are talking second round picks etc.

this is where the small print bites, we have to trade them before this years draft or they expire, ie, they are picks we cannot use (must be traded by us) . and heres the untimate insult, said picks used by other clubs will make our 3nd and 4th picks more watered down!
A big **** in your face by the AFL to North. Really more of a warning shot in relation to any future planned applications for assistance.

So the pp f3 for Bedford + the dees third round pick.
or
pp future 2nd + PP future third for Logue, Tucker and future second.
Clark is no chance now.
Hill may happen if its a salary dump.

So out of contract 2022 we currently have the following

Turner, J Walker, Jed, Atu, Kyron, Mcguiness (cat b), P Walker.

Orange = on thin ice
Red = Already Delisted this year.

If the oranges all go.
We will have 6 open list spots.
It is looking like we get something from the PP we applied for 2 spots.
That would give us 8 possible ins.
Players coming in so far
Logue, Tucker and 3 minimum national draft picks. So 5 of the 8 are already spoken for. 1 of Turner, Jed, Atu and Walker is most likely already gone.
Clarko said he wants to bring in 5-6 senior players. Only way that works is if all the guys in Orange are gone and we get 2 free spots from the PP application.
That is how it stands currently.

So to recap, now that 2 rookie spots are confirmed and the shittiness of our PP hand has been dealt... lets say four trade targets come in:

  • 2 Freo deals - PP future 2nd and 3rd for logue and tucker
  • 1 TBC low pick deal - say future 4th rounder or PSD for Bedford
  • A possible salary dump for Hill or maybe a free agent like Gunston.

Then there's three mandatory national draft spots to fill: Cadman, Harvey, and some rookie.

It could be that someone in orange gets a reprieve after all.

So next years draft is meant to be very strong, we get two picks that we have to give to other clubs or lose them forever. How does that not put other clubs in a good postion while dealing with us next year? They get to offload some spuds and we have to hope to get a fair deal.
exactly, its almost like a loan that we pay interest on by slipping down the draft next year. all for a bag of spuds this year, has all the hall marks of the jack and the beanstalk fable.

Lol classic AFL. Do whatever they like. They should just scrap priority picks or make this package the norm from now on when WCE come knocking in 2 years.
It was exactly what I was expecting. I knew they would make us trade them for players lol. So predictable.
Only loophole I can see is we must trade for at least one player. Doesn't rule out player plus pick back combination I guess.
It's better than nothing but still a predictable disgrace lol. Can't wait to see when it's one of the big clubs applying next time.

In regards to the number 1 pick getting a NAB bonus, It should be that the first player "taken" by the bottom club gets the Nab Bonus. this would enable clubs that finished last to bid on father/son players without losing a Nab Bonus to them..

Lets redirect the disgust at our list management team for a second.

We have #1 and #55 this year. What appalling list management for a wooden spoon team. Obviously the CCJ pick looks a monumental mistake. What also happened to our early 3rd round pick? Sorry but anyone associated with this management needs to be shown the door if they haven't left already. Inexcusable.

If I was Freo, I wouldn't trade Logue for a future 2nd round pick. Great if they do though.

It actually smells of giving us just enough to close out existing deals in the pipeline and nothing else. If Freo lose a few that might prefer some picks to be in 2023 draft.

North Melbourne CEO Ben Amarfio said the club now has some clarity as it heads towards this year’s trade period.

“We thank the AFL for considering our submission,” Amarfio said. “We feel like we had a strong case for some on-field assistance based on our recent performances.

“We’re one of very few clubs to have never received priority selections previously. This will now give us some real flexibility as we look to add some experience to our young and talented list.

James Gallagher and our list team have worked hard to get this package across the line and we now look ahead to the upcoming trade period.”

I'll interpret this for all on here;
