Query to the NMFC BF Board.

Salary dump!
Is it the suggestion that with this proposed change from the AFL that we can use our CAP space to gain draft picks?
For example NMFC could absorb a portion of a players salary for another club in exchnage for picks only, not needing to take on the actual player?

No, we have to take the player, so you need both cap space and list space. We can only realistically do it if we are prepared to clear some space. We could theoretically drop two senior players to the rookie list.

So out of contract 2022 we currently have the following

Turner, J Walker, Jed, Atu, Kyron, Mcguiness (cat b), P Walker.

Orange = on thin ice
Red = Already Delisted this year.

If the oranges all go.
We will have 8 open list spots.
Players requesting trades to us currently.
Logue, Tucker and 3 minimum national draft picks. So 5 of the 8 are already spoken for. 1 of Turner, Jed, Atu and Walker is already gone.
Clarko said he wants to bring in 5 senior players. Only way that works is if all the guys in Orange are gone.
That is how it stands currently.

I think walker will get one of the extra rookie spots

There seems to be a strong culture of spreading asscheeks on here. I for one don't want to get *ed anymore! I am sick of being *ed!

double checks to see if this is the list management thread or prison talk thread

I could be wrong, but the PSD route is much more popular on BF than it is within the industry. IIRC, the last PSD walked against the interests of the 'home' club is Jack Martin to Carlton from GC? That only happened after GC knocked back an offer of 2 second round picks, maybe on the low side, but nothing to sneeze at either.

If that's right, I'd expect we'll offer the future 2nd for Logue, and try and stretch it out to include Tucker. Get that over the line, we've satisfied the criteria of 'trade for a player this year', and we've still got the future R3 to play with, the points for which will be in demand

Hately went into the PSD a couple of years back too largely because GWS didn't want to use the pick they likely would have got from the Crows. I still think they should have taken the best they could get then keep trading them for future picks until you get enough picks to trade them for upgrades. GWS has a shit list management attitude, like our free hit attitude when it came to Thomas. You should be gathering as many picks as humanly possible and upgrade them or trade for future picks.

I can at least see a case there.
If Bmac gets injured, he'd be useful to have around.
The number of players we're declaring our interest in suggests that perhaps paying out Polec or trading X or an early Ziebell retirement isn't that far-fetched.

Hunter Clark (St Kilda)

“We saw the concessions that were given North Melbourne yesterday.

“Incidentally, that future second-rounder, I expect them to use that on Hunter Clark.

I think that’s likely at the moment as we sit here right now.

I think that future second-rounder that they’ve been given – a 2023 second-round pick – could be involved.”

In other words... Sam knows nothing...

Would love our future 2nd rounder to nab Clark, but there's nothing there to suggest it will actually happen.

Great that players are finally nominating us as a place to go. Not a big fan of this one though, Tucker has never struck me as a really talented player.

lol he has nominated us because we obviously approached him, not because he has a burning desire to play for the wooden spoon team.

I think Clarkson has a role in mind for him. We are going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat this pre-season to make all these trade happens.

but if he presented it as a 7 leg trade, how about then?

Throw in salary dumps for Hill and Bowes, and Bedford for a late pick swap (and maybe Gunston as a free agent), and that's a mighty thrifty trade haul.
Bowes would be the dream.
No GC fans exist to rampage our thread. Salary dumps are bit confusing, at least GC fans have some experience.
We will be left alone.

Fair point; GWS are an outlier in any PSD discussion because they can turn their nose up at any pick above 15; suns a bit the same re Martin
