I would think Geelong would be about the only suitor he would be happy to squish his salary for. 800k is backpay, accepting 4*400 is nuts unless there are other incentives.
Yeah, I don't understand why he would even consider re-structuring his contract to be like that when he's already owed more for 2 yrs less.

You shouldn’t be able to change the contract value for the remaining years/lengthen the years.

Surely Logue or at least Tucker gets done tomorrow, with Acres essentially done other than paperwork, would really only be semantics around those other two deals. Would be nice to get them in and then that would allow us on putting a nice pitch into Bowes & Clark. But at least if we get the first two deals done early, at the expected price, we would have had a positive trade period and everything from there is only up!

My gut feel is that there is a 50/50 chance that we get one of either Bowes or Clark, so hoping one of them through the door.

If not, then I do think we have to look at getting at least one more ready-made player in either half back/midfield or obviously small forward but doesn’t seem to be many out there.

An added bonus would be any little pick swaps we could do or a random DFA if they show any promise.

But generally that’s how I think the trade period will go, no big surprises, just whether or not what we want to happen happens.

Any deal that waters down Bowes contract over a longer period should be stopped by the AFL.
Pick 7 is being offered because of the impact to cap, if you don’t have that impact then the AFL need to stop the deal.
Haven't the Afl said the the Bowes contract has to be honoured as is , so it's $850k for the next 2 years with whatever else added on later?

correct. We could add extra years at a lower rate to provide career security but not to spread the cost

They’ll make it five years/$3m total.

With $1.3m of it over the final three years on top of the final $1.7 owed.

And a plumb gig at Cotton On.

The only way the AFL will stop a player and club altering a contract is if you sign a player as a restricted FA. The total of the money still has to be paid over the period of the initial deal.

I think they have said the $858 X 2 will be calculated in the cap. Not sure what that means to a deal.
