I've been told from a reasonably reliable source that Miles Bergman and Josh Sinn are the two names Port have come back with today that we can discuss.

They want a future 3rd rounder on top of JHF though.

8 + F1 + Sinn
For JHF + F3

Is acceptable but is the minimum for mine

2 + Sinn also interests me

The aim of the trade period should be to somehow take pick 2 from the Eagles so that we can take both Wardlaw and Cadman.

The Eagles trading down is somewhat realistic, as you’d assume they’re keen on Hewett. If they view enough of the Victorians as flight risks, then 8 + something for 2 shouldn’t be seen as unrealistic.
Could be something like
Eagles out pick 2
Eagles in Pick 8 Georgiades

Port out pick 8, future 1st, Georgiades and Sinn
Port in JHF and Norths future 3rd (PP)

Roos out JHF
Roos in pick 2, Ports future 1st, Sinn

Does anyone even care about a future 3rd? I really don't care about points calculators etc.

We need to look at the likely players (coming from picks) and the actual players coming and decide if that is palatable enough to give up JHF.

Would take that tbh.

8(9), a similar pick next year in a strong draft and a player taken first round is a decent haul.

I kind of want to do that.

NM: Receives 2 first rounders and Josh Sinn/Bergman
Port: JHF and a future 3rd.

Roos need 'pretty good' offer to trade JHF

North Melbourne list manager Brady Rawlings says any deal for No.1 pick Jason Horne-Francis would need to be significant for the Roos to agree to the wantaway teenager's "disappointing" request to move to a South Australian club.

Horne-Francis requested a trade on Sunday and AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey reported that Port Adelaide is his preferred club.

Rawlings spoke to reporters on the first day of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period and said North would consider a combination of picks and players for Horne-Francis, but it would need to be a compelling offer.

He said a potential offer from Port Adelaide of pick No.8 and a future first-round pick wouldn't be enough.

"He's a contracted player. We've turned down some huge offers in the past so the deal's going to have to be pretty good for us to look at it," Rawlings said.

"We've brought in a lot of 18-year-olds over the last three years so if we can become more mature as part of this deal, we'd certainly look at that as well."

Rawlings said he had "no idea" whether the uncertainty about Alastair Clarkson's position as coach for 2023 had any bearing on Horne-Francis' decision.

Rawlings said the club stood by its decision to drop the youngster ahead of the round 15 clash with Adelaide, which was his only opportunity to play in front of family and friends in his home state this year.

"When you're trying to set standards at your football club, you can't pick and choose with individuals and the standard that week wasn't up to scratch. As a club, we made the call to set some standards and Jason didn't reach them that week, which would happen with any player," he said.
