I’ve played football with him in the last few years. Very good footballer and good kid. Got cut from Sydney due to the reduced list sizes.

Today was definitely not his day. Conditions were pox though, and did not suit him. I've heard the same thing, regarding him being a really good kid. I think there's plenty of improvement in him, at the elite level. I hope he gets another chance, at some stage. It doesn't always have to be a B.O.G, to prove someone has it. It can take a couple of key moments where you think sh*t, this kid has something. Last week v GC was definitely one of them.

If Hawkins is contracted on $300k on the books and they're making that information public or leaking it to the media, it's not because they want everyone to think Hawkins is a great bloke. It's because they want someone else looking another way.

Put another way, if Hawkins is on $300k on the books, he's a silent partner in about six properties, businesses and pubs in the greater Geelong area

But they’re all great blokes and want to win flags and forfeit $1000’s of dollars to keep the band together.

Just ask Jeremy Cameron, who could’ve fetched $2m a year at GWS but chose to come to Geelong for half that.

Maybe not the exact salaries, but perhaps salary bands. So if Hawkins is contracted for #300k in 2023, he would be in the $300 to $350k band. Players would retain some privacy but there would be greater transparency around club salary caps.

Should be part of the next player agreement.

Even a listing of the squad and salary distribution amongst it without names would be handy?

Brother, scope out Collingwood. They lost Grundy during the year. Without him they won a number of games with what one would consider to be lesser ruckmen. They proceeded to make a Preliminary Final. They aren’t that important. As long as you have a big dude who is competitive that’s all you need. Scope out the Premiership rucks over the years. Big Blonks. The outlier being last season with Gawn and Jackson. So Meek can stay where he is. We have enough rucks on the list. :stern look

Freo fans need to be prepared for the idea that they aren't going to win a trade involving an uncontracted player. Freo have basically no leverage.

Logue wants to come and play for North. North will make a fair offer, somewhere in the range of pick 19-30.

If North get pp11 then Freo have no claim over that. Its weird that Freo fans are getting all wide-eyed at North's PP situation, as if they might get some big win from it.

North can walk Logue to the PSD. You can say that it doesn't happen but thats because teams in this situation realise that they don't have leverage and accept the offer rather than taking nothing.

Its weird that Freo fans seem to think that denying Logue his trade to North and forcing him to go to the PSD would somehow be a risk to North that he could stay in Freo.

Put yourself in Logue's shoes. Why would Freo dragging it out make you more fond of them?

If we were to use a PP 19 or thereabouts for Logue, I'd expect freo to send something back. Min 3rd rounder, to put the PVI in the 20s.
