Sorry to be another intruder on your board, just wanted to say after some initial heartbreak with Logue’s decision I’m actually really excited that he’s going to North. Also really excited for Tucker. They’re both really good people who deserve the opportunities. I’m also really excited to see what Lachie Young can do with a bit more freedom in a really solid defensive unit. Hayden is an awesome player and I don’t think Lachie is too far off in terms of talent.

I live in Melbourne and have always wanted a second team as an excuse to get along to more games. Looking forward to watching North surprise more than a few teams next season.
Congrats on a good season and contract renewal Lachie, best of luck for season 2023.

Can someone please explain to me why we have been so bad at the trade table for so long?

So many trades over the past decade and a half that I’ve thought thought we’ve been well and truly bent over in the deals. Yet they keep on happening year after year. And never seems to improve. The CCJ trade last year was very bad, even at that time.

What do you guys think the problem is? Do we just have very soft people at the trade table? Or are they just not very bright? Or is it inferiority mindset of being NMFC and they feel that they need to make something happen regardless of what is being forked over?

Finally, Who have we been hiring to do these negotiations over the past couple of decades and put bluntly why have these people been so bad at their job?

Clark rumors are weird. It’d be nice to have a good young player join, but that’s all he is - good, not great. Further, back flankers/ mid is just about the one position we’re not bereft of any talent/ depth in. Further again, how could we possibly pay for him? Again, good young player and contacted to boot surely necessitates a pick between 15-20?

We’re *ed, but this is about as good as we can hope. Rooboys Rool I assume you’re working through the permutations as we speak.

It’s gonna have to do.
I'd say you're spot on with that especially having our current back to back syd barker medallist on the bench!

Hunter Clark (St Kilda)
“We saw the concessions that were given North Melbourne yesterday.
“Incidentally, that future second-rounder, I expect them to use that on Hunter Clark.
“I think that’s likely at the moment as we sit here right now.
“I think that future second-rounder that they’ve been given – a 2023 second-round pick – could be involved.”

I don't know about you guys but I think we might be using the future second rounder that the AFL gave us.

Clark for a second is an absolute steal if that's all it is. If we walk out with Logue, Clark, Tucker and Bedford off the trade period that would be near on perfect for a team that just finished last. Add in pick 1 OR multiple firsts and at least Cooper from the draft and we're laughing.

Probably need to sweeten it somewhat, future second plus Polec, Mahony, Lazzaro, Xerri and Spicer.

Or at least he thinks so

Well thanks for that how we getting rid of Mahony, Lazzaro, Polec, Xerri and Spicer now?
FFS!
My xerri suggestion is more to not spend any more draft capital, even then it’s only because the saints were previously keen

Simple fact of the matter is that players that demand a first round pick are not normally stated by their clubs as gettable or placed on the trade table.
