Fair point; GWS are an outlier in any PSD discussion because they can turn their nose up at any pick above 15; suns a bit the same re Martin

They shouldn't though. Even if the pick is shit for you, others would want it and you can keep trading them forward or upgrading picks you have. They just their noses bent out of shape because first contract first rounders were bailing.

It is why I am curious how they handle Bruhn, another first contract player, if they give him the same treatment then the PSD pick might pay dividends, i guess it depends on how cheap Geelong are.

Big fan of the salary dump.

Ridiculous that we are only paying 7.5% less than a Geelong with all their experienced players and recruits. Helps bad teams get better faster essentially buying extra picks.

MAXIMUM DUMPS

We are paying 100% of the cap.

We have to pay 95% minimum, you can bring contracts forward but there is a cap in terms of how much you can. I don't think we are remotely close to Geelong's TPP in terms of current contracts. Including contracts brought forward and front-ended contracts vs Geelong back ended contracts there would be a massive difference between the two.

Yep i would say we are restructuring every year. There are some real spuds getting paid good money because we have no one to pay.

lol he has nominated us because we obviously approached him, not because he has a burning desire to play for the wooden spoon team.

I think Clarkson has a role in mind for him. We are going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat this pre-season to make all these trade happens.
I’m not sure how your first paragraph relates to what I’ve said at all.

Gee Edmund has sent some anxiety through the Saints board this afternoon…

I’m not sure what’s the best part:

- the fact that they’re a small club with a 70 year drought, 1 flag & 17 million debt, that wants to pot Norf for being an “irrelevant s*** club”.

Or,

- the fact they think any of JHF, Tarryn, LDU or Pick 1 would need to be involved in a trade for Hunter Clark.

Looking really exciting for you guys , getting some mature age players nominating north.
Logue will add great depth for the backline- 2nd round pick
Tucker - 3rd round
Hunter Clark most likely 2nd with exchange for later picks.
Jack Bowes wants to look around could be a good pick up as well
Adam Tomlinson could get pushed out of Melbourne with Brodie Grundy wanting to go there. He has 1 year remaining has been averaging 21 disposals 6 marks a game as a key defender in the vfl. Would help the back 6 and let Logue play forward!
Tom Phillips, jackNewnes and Kyle hartighan.
could be handy rookie draft pick ups and add some game day experience
Jack Gunston restricted free agent watch this space.
Tarryn Thomas could be swapped for Bowes and a 2nd round pick back to north?
All depending on salary cap as well.
with Archscroft clearly the best player in the draft. I have a feeling north could trade this pick 1 with GWS who will have plenty of first round picks with hopper, bruhn and Taranto leaving. Could open up more options for north list wise and get two top 15 kids or one more experience gun.

Just that you aren't keen on him, it doesn't really matter if we are keen on him or not in BFland, our club must have offered him a spot if he has nominated us so I assume it is just a formality now.

If we land a quality player with our PSD1, the AFL will abolish it for good. Just add another rule change to the list.
I think with the stinking turd they dropped on the club’s head, we fleece and and all rules and say feck the lot of you.
Where’s the GOAT?..

absolutely love the players we're linked to. Obviously I've been massive on getting a combo of talented, young-ish players into the club that suit our timeline, as well as some mid 20s guys who can help us win next year, which i personally think we desperately need for the players, fans, and just general belief around the club

again, i didn't think it was possible without splitting 1 and getting multiple first rounders to then on-trade for talented guys like Logue & Clark, and would have absolutely been fine with that, but if we manage to get it done despite my doubts and still keep 1 and next year's 1st then fair ****s to both our recruiters and everyone on here who believed it can be done

Logue and Clark are exactly what we need, Tucker would be very handy, and I think HIll helps us with a lot of our transition problems. A player like Bowes on top of those guys as a salary dump would be ridiculous and make me so optimistic about next year - even moreso than i already am with Clarko at the helm

They're like Hot Dog salesman who thinks they run a 3 Michelin Star Restaurant. Most delusional supporters in the league.

The best part about the saints supporters melts is that they don't realise how close they are to bottoming out, and becoming irrelevant for 10 years.

They have hardly any under 23 talent and have maxed out their TPP.

Hunter Clark will make a decision on his playing future when he returns from overseas next week but the young Saint looks increasingly likely to be elsewhere in 2023.

North Melbourne continues to lead the race if the contracted Clark departs, but it’s understood Essendon also plans to meet with him when he is back in Melbourne.

He has one season to run on the deal he signed in March last year and a trade would need to be struck if he is to leave Moorabbin.

The 23-year-old, the No.7 pick in the 2017 draft, has looked a budding star at times but endured repeat collision injuries in the past two seasons that interrupted his progress.

Clark sustained a severely broken jaw last year in a high-profile incident with Adelaide’s David Mackay, who was ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing at the tribunal.

His start to this season was delayed when he hurt the AC joint on his right side in a pre-season clash with Bomber Dyson Heppell, before he suffered a compound fracture of his nose in a collision with teammate Dan Butler.

That run of horror luck has contributed to Clark weighing up whether he needs a fresh start.

There is also a belief the 68-gamer can be too comfortable at times and won’t realise his potential at St Kilda.

At his best, Clark combines excellent composure with silky skills and has most often been used at half-back but was drafted as a midfielder.

Opposition clubs believe he is gettable for a selection in the 20s, with the future second-round pick the AFL awarded the Kangaroos, as part of its assistance package, potentially the key to unlocking a deal.

They don’t have a selection in that region this year but are open to ‘splitting’ the No.1 pick as they eye an active trade period, with Dockers Griffin Logue and Darcy Tucker already nominating them.

The Bombers’ draft hand this year includes picks four, 22, 40 and 58.

Clark is close with North’s fellow ex-Dandenong Stingrays Luke Davies-Uniacke and Aiden Bonar but that is just one factor as he considers where he will be most challenged and play his best football.

Logue, Tucker and Clark (if it actually happens) all good pickups. Can’t really see Hill trade getting done due to lack of trade capital. Saints not really stretched salary cap wise. If we can get Bowes cheap that would complete a quality off season. Seems that for list balance Cadman would be the best option for pick 1 but the big 3 of Wardlaw, Sheezel and Tsatis hard to overlook.
