What are Blake Acres and Griffin Logue worth?

Out of contract and out the door, Blake Acres and Griffin Logue are coming off career-best seasons at Fremantle.

Acres was in contention for an All-Australian wing berth before he hurt his hamstring against Hawthorn.

His trade to Carlton could revolve around a future third-round pick. The wingman is eager to join the Blues on a three-year deal.

Logue has been the ultimate utility, playing as a key defender, up forward and even in the ruck this season.

He was a top-10 pick for the Dockers in 2016 and could command a second-rounder given a five-year contract is waiting for him at North Melbourne.

Darcy Tucker and Lloyd Meek are also exploring their options and the Dockers could bump up their asking price given the pair are contracted.

Even dead shits like Rendell can see we already have too many midfielders.

I think we still have room for an elite wingman or a talent like perhaps Sheezel who went into the middle and was able to get back to back 30+ possession games but is a pretty electric forward.

My main concern is our ability to win enough of the contested ball post-Cunners, assuming our top-end mids make the grade and in the middle we have Phillips, LDU and JHF with Thomas and Sheezel on the wings, that to me would be A-grade across the park with the ability of JHF and Sheezel to go forward.

The elephant in the room is Jy. As much as I love Jy, his decision making/disposal at stoppages isn't elite, he is dangerous when he has more time and space to use his agility and going inside 50 from close range is good but he hasn't been a run and carry type of player. I am not sure if someone like Clarkson can get more out of him. He is giving 100% and he has been flying the flag in the guts with Cunners down but he has a lot of similar traits to Ziebell when he played in the middle.

In the short-term, yeah, we are okay for mids but if you were constructing a premiership midfield for 3-5 years time and you have pick 1 would you be happy with what you have for the future? Because once we start to rise, can kiss goodbye this calibre of pick/player.
