I've been told from a reasonably reliable source that Miles Bergman and Josh Sinn are the two names Port have come back with today that we can discuss.

They want a future 3rd rounder on top of JHF though.
Thats interesting in the context of this post earlier saying 8 + future 1 + georgiades + bergman for JHF and a pp2.
Just seen this on WC board

Just getting this out of the way early: I'd take Dow. Thanks guys won't be reading responses
Please correct me if I am wrong, but he was hoping to come to North originally. If he wants to be here I take that as a step up from JHF. You can have all the talent in the world but that doesn't always guarantee success.

JHF requesting a trade is real ordinary by the player and for the Kangas considering how hard he pushed wanting to go pick 1 pre draft. Making Port the only club he wants to be traded to is crap, the AFL should bring in you can nominate a state but not a club going forward when requesting a trade. Hopefully you get at least 2 first rounders and if not a player then also the compo pick Port get for Amon which hopefully falls end of first round for you guys. Unfortunately something I posted earlier this year on this forum that Tarryn Thomas was looking at a interstate move might be about to be pushed again by Thomas. He was all in after meeting with Clarko but with Clarko now a unknown if he coaches going forward Thomas is a big chance to request a move according to someone close to him. I doubt Kangas would trade him with him under contract and not coming off the greatest season so his value might not be as high as it should be for a player of his talent and potential.

I think it is on us that we allowed such a shit environment to manifest, it has been a problem since the end of Scott's term, we've had too many inexperienced people in critical roles and poor leadership at every level. You hope young kids can see that we have identified that and are working to address it and they are a bit patient and just work hard but I don't blame anyone for not wanting to.

I wouldn't be surprised if Thomas bailed, it isn't a surprising rumour given how his year panned out but I think his major issue was Noble and he was happy enough early in the year where he extended. He has been working hard this pre-season instead of relaxing, will be interesting if there is any substance to that rumour.

The club might be of the opinion that by mid season next year people will feel differently about the club and where it is heading and might be reluctant to move contracted players based on where we are now. But JHF didn't seem to be happy here from day one, most new draftees extend early and he wanted to wait until the end of his contract which means he was a flight risk before any of the negatives manifested. if he is going to leave regardless of what happens next year we wont have the same bargaining power next year as we do now. Geelong did okay with Kelly but I'd imagine West Coast regret that trade now. It would be a disaster if Crows return to the bottom of the ladder next year and he nominates them next year, they would go the PSD route like they did with Hately and he probably wouldn't care either.

If it’s pick 8 plus future first ( which could be anywhere in the teens) , I’d be asking for both players.
If Port can manage to grab pick 2 this year, plus future first, then one of those lads will be enough.
Leaning towards Sinn.

I reckon you guys will get a very good deal out of Port. Hinkley and Koch are under intense pressure, they need a shiny new toy to placate members.

Really hope Brady doesn't go down the 'mutually beneficial' path. Go full Dodoro. They have lured away an 19 year old, contracted, number 1 pick. Squeeze the pricks.

I would prefer Viney handle the trade period, I have no confidence in Rawlings. If he handles discussion half as bad as he sounds in the media it is probably Clown Town.

North want more than two first-rounders for Horne-Francis

By Jon Pierik

North Melbourne list chief Jade Rawlings has declared Port Adelaide will have to do better than offer selection No.8 in this year’s national draft and a future first-round pick if they want to secure wantaway Kangaroo Jason Horne-Francis.

Horne-Francis, 19, has requested a trade home to South Australia, with industry sources claiming his preference is to head to the Power. The Crows also have strong interest.

“It was disappointing when the request came through, no doubt. We have invested a lot into this player. Pick one last year, we knocked back obviously a lot of currency to take him with pick one, so we really hoped he wanted to serve out his career with North Melbourne,” Rawlings said.

“It’s not to be. He has requested to go back to South Australia. We will have some chats with Adelaide and Port AdelaIde and see what transpires.

“I think the pull home is really strong. He has got different family situations and I think the pull home for Jason has been too strong, and that’s why the request has come.“

The Power have pick No.8 and a future first-round selection to offer, but Rawlings said that would not be enough to strike a deal for the robust midfielder-forward.

“I would have thought so, yeah. We have knocked back better than that in the past,” Rawlings said, alluding to the offers the Kangaroos had received in exchange for pick No.1 last year which they used to take Horne-Francis.

“I don’t see why we would take that option right now.“

The Crows last year offered the Kangaroos three early draft selections, while Richmond also offered a major deal. The Crows’ top selections are pick No.5 and pick No. 23 this year, but pick No.5 will go to the Gold Coast Suns for Izak Rankine.

Horne-Francis trained with the Power in his draft year. His father is former Port Adelaide player Fabian Francis.

The Kangaroos are not only keen for picks but established talent in a bid to become a “more mature” list.

“We would love for him to be a one-club player and a superstar for our club. He has got that much talent. For it to come 11 months in is disappointing for us but family situations are different and each individual situation is different,” he said.

“It obviously wasn’t a great year for us. We finished on the bottom and lost our coach. We didn’t have the year we would have liked, so whether that played a part, I am not too sure,” he said.

Horne-Francis was controversially dropped ahead of a late-season game against the Crows in South Australia, while his commitment was also questioned, particularly when he flew home to Adelaide for Mother’s Day after the round-eight loss to Fremantle in Perth, having initially flown home to Melbourne with his teammates.

He did not miss any training but, having had four flights in a short period, missed round nine with hamstring tightness.

“When you are trying to set standards for the football club, you can’t pick and choose with individuals,” Rawlings said.

“The standard that week (when he was dropped) wasn’t up to scratch and as a club we made a call to set some standards. Jason didn’t reach them that week.“
Horne-Francis played 17 games in his debut season.

Yes, was very keen to come to us and had we were most likely going to take him but when Freo went with Brayshaw and LDU was still available at our pick that changed everything. I'd be very happy to have him at North.

Jade. JFC.

Surely we’ll add Hunter Clark during the trade period.

We were heavily linked but Carlton actually drafted him before we picked LDU. I remember we thought he was coming then the night before the draft Dow removed any evidence of his love for North from his Instagram.
