So out of contract 2022 we currently have the following

JHF, Turner, J Walker, Jed, Atu, Kyron, Mcguiness (cat b), P Walker.

Green = Contracted

Orange = on thin ice
Red = Already Delisted this year.

7 total outs looks likely which would give us 9 open list spots before anyone comes in.
Players coming in so far
Logue, Tucker and 3 minimum national draft picks. So 5 of the 9 are already spoken for.
We have 4 spots unspoken for currently. Which can be filled with draftees, new contracts for the guys in orange or senior players bought in.(trade, DFA's or SSP.)

Why do you think that Adelaide would be in the mix next year?
It would most likely be Port and we would be getting less and delayed 12 months.
Why do you think they won't?

The only reason they aren't in the mix this year is because of the Rankine commitment.

I agree with David King. We should look to acquire pick 2 from West Coast.
With 1 and 2 pick the best key position forward in Cadman and best midfielder in Wardlaw.
Acquiring the best young talent beats selecting speculative kids in the mid first and second round of the draft.
I just have a feeling that Cadman will be a special talent, and if we pass on him, we will regret this for a long time.

Yep get me Cadman and 1 of Sheezel/wardlaw

Because his step dad is strongly linked to Port, he has been talking to Port for 12 months.
That won't stop Adelaide from being a factor in a local boy regarded as a "generational talent" who wants to get back to Adelaide.

They aren't that stupid.

Adelaide won't get a chance.

He won't do us any favours if we keep him in Melbourne for 12 more months. He will nominate Port. We'll threaten the PSD but really its a hollow threat. If we hold out for a year then we need to get something.

Why drag ourselves through all of this mud and bullshit? Why deal with the circus for 12 months then spend all next trade period trying to get a deal that, even if Crows are involved, won't be as good as Sheezel and Port's 1st.

Wash our hands of the campaigner. He never wanted to be here. It was a mistake.

No it isn't enough especially if we want to trade a pick for Hunter Clark.

Do we have room for Clark?

We have 4 players out of contract, we brought in two already, with JHF leaving that gives us 3 spots, Cooper plus two others.

I believe the 4 players we have delisted so far are all rookies, aren't they?

What are the lottery numbers for tonight?

If he wants to go back to SA -is he going to risk pooort shitting the bed again
I dont blame jhf for wanting to go home. His family has been through some upheaval. His mum is pretty much alone now. You only get one mother in this life.
I think it's fair enough.
But we still need full value.
I recognize this is probably not a popular view point.

So let’s say a worthwhile variation of the mega deal actually happens.

We’ll have 5 spots unspoken for once JHF goes, plus 3 mandatory draft selections, 8 in total.

From gws we get 3, 15, 18 for 1…
From port We get 2, Bergman/Sinn/approx pick 20 for JHF…

DRAFT
LIST SPOT ONE- 2: Wardlaw
LIST SPOT TWO - 3: sheezel
LIST SPOT THREE- 18: lachie cowan
LIST SPOT FOUR- 55: Cooper Harvey f/s

TRADES
LIST SPOT FIVE- PICK 15: hunter clark
LIST SPOT SIX- Bergman/Sinn (or pick 20 > could be traded with steak knives for f1?)

SEVEN and EIGHT: Space for psd player (Dunkley? Rioli?) and/or DFA etc

All the delised guys were rookies, no?

Is there any reason the reason she is now “alone” hasn’t been raised much in the media and on here?

Jhf makes it 4 list spots open.
Other than that spot on.
I reckon the best way to get players is the ssp. Let them train all summer and we get a good look at them. Less chance of surprises.

If we were to do the trade with GWS I think I would prefer 18 & 19 to go with 3. 18 could go to Hunter Clark and trade 19 on the 2nd night of the draft for a 2023 1st. Would give us 3, Hunter Clark & F1 making it 2 1st rounders minimum in 2023 in a better draft.

We will have spots galore next year to fill with Ziebell, Polec, Hall and probably Goldy retiring plus any delistings

What does Tef think? I can imagine him on here, through this period.
One of life’s pleasures is not having to put up with the rants and constant abuse. Good riddance.
Here's a few absolutely amateurish things to do if you're running a side:
  • draft the 4th best player at pick 1 because your 2 win side needs a CHF
  • pass on trades that help your team because you want to screw another team
  • hold onto a player solely to prove a point

Thats how you stay at the bottom forever.
An even more certain way to stay bottom 4 is to allow another team to waltz in and grab your high-end talent for a bag of twisties because they have convinced him to leave, so we just need to accept it.
I think both of these scenarios can be true simultaneously. It is outcome that proves the truth of either. We have been bent over during the last few years. That is an unarguable fact. So this is a line in the sand moment. I think we have to perhaps cut off our nose to spite our face. ( Too many metaphors ? 🤔 )Port never regretted their Nick Steven’s moment. This is ours. Don’t budge Todd.

Possibly mate.
I dont differentiate between main list and cat a rookie list.
We could put Mahoney, Laz or jz onto the rookie list very easily as no one else would bother pinching them from us.

They would need a LTI to play, the only limitation. We do have Comben though, so the odds are good. :stern look

That all sounds pretty ordinary for the kid, his Mum & his extended family if the family unit has fallen apart.

It changes the narrative around the move a little, providing some clarity to the situation. It would explain some of the petulance and seemingly out of character behaviour from JHF and the sudden desperation to get home.

It also would mean that just getting back home negates the "will only deal with 1 club" narrative.
