See this is the shit going on over there

“The clarko effect

Future second PP for Logue and tucker
Future second original for Clark and hill

Then maybe get Bedford for a late pick also (future third)”

This is why Kangaroos get culled in parts of this country.

You never know, Clark could be another Jarred Brennan. That bloke had the skills to be one of the games best, just didn't have the drive

On SM-F711B using BigFooty.com mobile app

Brisbane got 119 games out of Brennan, traded him when he was 26 years old, and received pick 5 in the trade.

So opposition recruitment departments will just give Norfie players because of the Clarko effect

ok FMD

Remember our trading with the Clarko effect when he wanted O'Meara. Really bent us over on that one :D :D

And before anyone says we got Clark and Long who may leave, I am just talking about trading pick 10 for pick 7, 26 and 39, not how we may have ****ed up the drafting.

Why haven't we motivated him or given him better guidance.

I don't want to spruik myself as some in the know which is why a listed a few possible reasons, but you do have to wonder how a guy like Clark who showed a fair bit early on just hasn't quiet continued on with it. I know he has had some pretty tough injuries last year and this year, but they weren't necessarily debilitating injuries like an ACL or repeated hamstrings. He's been in the wars but I wouldn't have thought he would have lost a huge amount of fitness from them. He just hasn't quite shown as much of his best traits as I would have thought by now.

It drives me bonkers. Did Freo deserve pick 2 for Weller? No they didn’t. Did they deserve pick 6 for Brad Hill? No they didn’t but they got Brayshaw and Serong for those picks and now their midfield is setup for a decade. Unfortunately I have no doubt that we’ll give up a former pick 7 for a pick in the 20’s and be grateful for it. And we wonder why we are where we are.
Exactly it puts the rest of the competition behind terrible decision by the afl and is a big reason why they have salary cap issues

Average AFL career is 3 years
Doesn't seem right, where did you get the figure?
Most draftee's get 2 years, and then there are plenty of spuds get the third. ( Looking at you Allison ).

Clarkson played along with Dodo bumping up the Carlisle trade. We owe him no favours.

It sounds like that?

Where has this been stated... I mean by people who might actually have a clue?

Of course it hasn't, but if (a big if) the club is looking to trade him then people are reading the tea leaves to try to work out why, because we think he's a good player with a potentially high ceiling.

Either the club is completely incompetent or there's a reason. They're not going to tell us the reason so we just have to try to come to some conclusion as part of the grieving process.

Trade period is a magical time. Anyone can make any claim, as long as they include plenty of "I heard..." "Someone who knows him says..." "I expect..." "I think..." "it's likely..." "At this pint...." "Could be..." and it just snowballs, every year, and nobody learns from it.

Even better when these unconfirmed, unsubstantiated nothing-claims are used for some pre-emptive club bashing and 2023 membership microwaving.
Word on the street is that you missed one.

Jack Bowes wants out as reported. I'd say we either get him or Flanders for Longy.

Makes about as much sense as that you didn't like Bruce Doull as a child for some reason and you have concerns based on
the look of his hair that Hunter Clark may prematurely go bald and then trigger your Bruce Doull issues ? Am I right ?

Edit: Legal disclaimer re: You and Bruce Doull if somehow something actually happened and I am psychic. I do not mean to offend.
Wears the headband to keep the hair getting in his eyes, onya Brucey

I'd love to be able to turn Ben Long into Jack Bowes

He looked ready to explode in the first half of last year prior to injury. Averaged around 27 disposals before injury hit

Not sure why GC have rarely played him in the middle though

I get the feeling we are searching for draft picks ahead of players but for Long it would be a win

Coming off a shoulder injury this year. I dont remember him from 2021.
Hard to see him worth more than a 2nd rounder isnt it?
If so we should be at least having a chat with him

To me it “sounds “ like Occams Razor.
(The simplest solution).
With the AA rise of Sincs, there are at least two players (ie: Sincs and Coff) ahead of him for a HBF role.
With Owens and Windy, there are another two players ahead of him for that mid role.
So we (club and he) either find a new role within the team for a player of his talent, or we find another team which best fits him and maximises the return to the Club.***
Everything else is just gossip.

*** Note: I could just as easily have written: “or we find another team which maximises the return to the Club and best fits him”.

Hunter Clark (St Kilda)
“We saw the concessions that were given North Melbourne yesterday.
“Incidentally, that future second-rounder, I expect them to use that on Hunter Clark.
“I think that’s likely at the moment as we sit here right now.
“I think that future second-rounder that they’ve been given – a 2023 second-round pick – could be involved.”

Conjecture. Throwing darts.
