You’re kidding right?
if we get him it’ll be more like….

Stupid Saints so desperate for success they’ll pay a fortune for a guy who refuses to sign a contract saying he’ll behave. This ill- considered decision will blow up in their faces with no leadership to rein him in, what are they thinking…….yada yada yada
I meant from in here.

We will be belted by the media like we always are

Have to disagree.
People never went down to Seaford as it is. You’d be disenfranchising so many fans.

Cats fans for the most part live in Geelong. Saints fans, for the most part do not live in the areas you are suggesting.

Moorrabin offers the best of both worlds - players can live close the city or further down the coast, wherever they prefer.
Disagree. Outside of Waverley Park the saints have the worst home base local of any Victorian club. The SE suburbs are a dead zone.

I think you are close to the mark on this one... there are too many Melbourne teams fighting for the same players. It's pretty obvious the lifestyle in Geelong is a big drawcard and makes them a point of difference.

The Seaford concept could have worked... but not at Seaford or at Frankston oval.

A better idea would have been Mornington or Mt Eliza, our own plot of land... owned by the club.. purpose built facilities.

Players could have lived in Sorrento, Portsea... played golf at the National and surfed on their days off. Live a great lifestyle with their families.

What we are now left with is a council owned land, bank owned facilities... huge debt. Stuck in Melbourne trying somehow to be different from 8 other Melbourne based clubs.
Players would live in Melbourne anyway, commute daily and hate it. Goddard was one who spoke about how much he hated going down there.
The surf doesn't compare to the surf coast. There's no real city centre there that's worth spending time in.
We're not talking about nannas in parachute tracksuits or teleworkers with 3 kids. The team is mostly young bucks who want to have fun.
I get where you're coming from, but it just wouldn't work.
Bayside suburbs are fine - not having a home ground sucks more than anything. The training location doesn't put us behind Essendon, WB, Hawthorn or anyone like that. Maybe not the lure of Punt Rd, but we can't all train there.

More on the Jordan Degeoy situation.

So the clause that Jordan had rejected is the club can terminate the deal
"whenever they think necessary"

now you may read into that how ever you like, “Jordan doesn’t trust him self” “Jordan owes the club” but the reality is football clubs are a business and Jordan and his manger have every right to get the best deal.

In the last few years, Adam treloar, Jaidyn Stephenson and Brodie grudny have all signed on big contracts for the Collingwood football club only for the club to than realise they made a mistake and try and trade them out, if Jordan was to accept a term where the club can terminate the deal when ever they think is necessary that opens up a lot more issues for Jordan than just behaviour, let’s say Jordy signs 5 years and injures him self next year which turns into a long term injury, well than technically the club can terminate his contract because Jordan has agreed that they can do it when ever they think is necessary.
obviously this is very unlikely but it’s not a clause anyone would be happy to sign.

Jordy has agreed to behavioural terms in his contract but will not agree to this term the AFLPA aren’t impressed with the club about this either and has taken aim at Collingwood this morning as they do not support additional behavioural clauses imposed on players beyond what's already in place through the AFL Standard Playing Contract.

It is likely Collingwood will ease off this clause and Jordy will re sign as he has told the club he wants to be there, but this is the situation at the moment.

David Noble and Barrett will discuss what the Saints review touched on this afternoon apparently.
Don't expect too much depth but might shed some light on what it involved.

If this is true there’s no way I’d be signing it, even if Collingwood didn’t have a history with the treatment of Treloar etc.

Who would be stupid enough to sign such an open ended clause such as this?

Cheap shot

Who cares what Lloyd thinks. Journalists rarely have a deep understanding of football clubs and will look for notoriety purely for the day’s headline. Tomorrow’s news is tomorrow‘s news. The common football supporter knows more about their own club than the journalists or the so called football expert.

So effectively giving up pick 7 for DeGoey?
I hadn’t considered it like that but personally I’m not sure I’d want to do that.

collingwood were 2 points away from a grand final. Or 2 minutes away from one. They’re clearly the better option

I find that very hard to believe , not sure a Collingwood supporters page is the best place to get the truth

I'm surprised that anyone can guess what position we will be in in the next few years. Here's what my thoughts were at various times of late:
  • end of 2020 - we should be playing finals for the next few seasons
  • mid 2021 - WTF! here comes a bottom 4 finish
  • end of 2021 - Actually we are playing like a top 8 team now, bring on 2022
  • mid 2022 - I told you so
  • end of 2022 - I dont know anymore

Yeah, a bizarre clause. I can't believe the Pies are getting pats on the back for this, and making JDG out as a lunatic. He'd be a lunatic to sign that!
