Gears on trade radio today was giving massive wraps for Maxie Heath. Reckons he will be an absolute weapon.
Another I've had a lot of faith in. Good to see its paying off already. Gears isn't part of the club anymore so he's not beholden to their PR bullshit. If he says Heath is good then he's good

Been having trouble sleeping but have found this helps 🥱

This just made me think. Do you reckon if we won a grand final we'd get the "G'day Saints fans" post game interview or would ratts be too busy drinking beers out of the cup?

Ratts will be drinking beers out of flipping plastic cups in the grandstand watching our premiership coach Lenny Hayes raise our second premiership cup.

Was always going to happen.

We were nothing more than a pawn in this game.
A pawn that forced Collingwood with SC issues from 2 years @ 700 to 5 @ 800k with no behavioural clauses.
More like one of those shitty castles that jump around causing havoc.

Wish list:
Degoey
Pick 7
Bowes

Reality:
James Bell
Nick Bryan
Darcy Gardiner

But his general play is conservative. He doesn’t hit packs hard and doesn’t seem to do a lot of the unfashionable stuff with much intensity.

I don’t want that sort of player in our team. I want a team of goers who play without compromise or need for fanfare. I’m not sure Weideman will ever be that player. It’s what frustrates me about Hill.

Darned if I know why Sharman isn’t playing every week. I like him much more as a player.
That’s all fair. I’m probably seeing some more upside and more structural benefits of him that probably don’t exist. I do like Sharman but I’m not sure he can play that hybrid ruck role.

Anyway I’m not gonna fight for Weideman by any stretch, he’s shown nothing at Melbourne to suggest he’s gonna be great ir even good but if he comes for free on a cheap one or two year deal I’d be okay with it.
Its too good for GC.

Honestly, they have three second rounders at the moment. I'd be expecting an exchange of one of those picks.

SO something like Long +27

For Bowes, 7 and 31 back.

Its 1.5 million off their list that we would be paying for a GOP and a prospect.

We are not here to make the other teams better.
Also completely fair. I suspect GC has a few offers so it might need to be better than what you’ve put forward to get us the pick and steak knives player. I can live with long and 27 for Bowes and 7 if that’s what it takes to get it done but yours is better for us.
Forward rucks are really hard to find. Lobb is in demand at a high wage because he's pretty much the only available forward ruck. If they can chop out and kick a goal or two a game and stretch out the defence they are a valuable commodity. I think he can get to that kind of level.
100% and lobb supposedly doesn’t want to play ruck. I still don’t get why the dogs are taking him. Naighton, Jamarra, Darcy, Lobb and Bruce with no suggestion any of them is gonna play back. Insanity.

We should get Matt Crouch & the Brown brothers from Collingwood. Won’t be contenders but will be a family friendly club.🥴

If you could get Crouch cheap there would be little risk. He would have been handy when Steele went down....or Gresham actually.

Not true - If we were a pawn we would have got played, we weren't. De Goey was available and we put an offer to him and didn't change it.

The only club that has got played so far is Collingwood.

I think he means that we were the pawn in his plan to make Collingwood conform to his demands.

We were like some stranger in a bar that thinks they are picking-up when someone's spouse comes and flirts with us to make their partner jealous perhaps?

Unless he is happy to play at Sandy on minimum wage and wait for an injury I don't see the point.

We have enough of those types and he'd just he taking away midfield minutes of Windy and Owens

I'm not expecting them to be able to carry a full time midfield spot next year. Windy might be able to play as a pure tagger and have no step back but there are more examples of second year blues than guys that step up to be a prime mid in their second season. Hopefully they defy the odds though.

2 years on a low wage and little trade capital would be a handy pick up IMO. If we don't make finals next year we probably lose Ratts and go into hard rebuild. A few people at the club will have their jobs on the line. I wouldn't be surprised if we top up with some cheap mature talent just to cover the depth we will lose this year.

Hopefully if Clark stays put we have him on a running program and in the midfield group instead. We need more depth there.

Great analogy. Except that we’re also married and get to go home and have really mediocre sex with our 6/10 wife.

I have no problem with the fact we went after him. None. I wanted us to try.

But it was clear he wanted to stay at Collingwood, and was holding out to get the terms he wanted. He used us for leverage. Smart move by him... but that's what happened. He was never choosing us.

Get Ed Phillips back along with his bro Tom, get Bing to come on down, rookie Kai Owens and away we go

Neither am I, but if we have 2 x Crouch, Steele, Ross, Gresham, Jones etc it's going to be tough for them to even get close to half a game in there.

If we don't start backing our kids we won't get anywhere. Crouch won't make us a premiership threat.

No reason why Windy can't be playing at least half a game in the guts each week next year. Most of the best mids were playing a decent amount of time in the middle by his age.
