I reckon jack Bowes would be a bit silly to go to Geelong if they get all these players in. He couldn’t get a game at Gold Coast. Best bet honesty would be us. Not just saying that. But of all the teams into him we have the worst midfield depth. That’s where he wants to play

Nah the problem is they have a history of turning spuds into good players - look at the Guthrie boys. While we have a history of turning good players into spuds. If he wants a career then surely he goes somewhere that can help him maximise his potential, no evidence of that at the saints.

Nah the problem is they have a history of turning spuds into good players - look at the Guthrie boys. While we have a history of turning good players into spuds. If he wants a career then surely he goes somewhere that can help him maximise his potential, no evidence of that at the saints.

Myth - Geelong’s premiership is driven from ready made players they’ve bought to the club.
There are more cases of their draftees not making it, then there are of them developing into Guthrie types.

They rarely trade against a players wishes though. If Geelong want him they won't get anything back. They have so many deal to get done they won't have a pick available in the first couple of rounds for years.

I would have thought a player who is not getting a game on 850k would be smart enough to get the best long term deal from whichever club offered it rather than nominate one club and narrow the choice of offers.

Dumb dumb dumb player manager get 10% for turning up and not actually giving smart advice which is what they are meant to be doing.

Bowes at Geelong might get 2 years with an option whereas someone else may give 2 plus another 2 gteed on good coin.

Media hype every player is going somewhere leaning to x club which is IMHO bs speculation.

The problem with underperforming like we have, is that we’ve had to take greater risks on speculative players.
Players like Jones, Howard, Higgins & Hill (to a lesser extent) had proven to have elite traits but inconsistent output.
We have to take the risk that we can back them in to become consistent and overpay them for it.
Teams like Geelong are attractive to established players who’ve proven their worth. Smith, Touhy, Cameron, Dangerfield, Higgins (at the time) for example and they can continue to top up with proven quality because they’re an attractive destination. This means they become less reliant on developing their kids. The polar opposite of a club like us.

The Gold Coast Suns are seeking a “fair” draft pick in return for Jack Bowes as the club packages him up with Pick 7 in a rare combo to shed salary cap.

SEN’s Sam Edmund reported earlier this week Bowes is owed $850,000 next year alone on a heavily back-ended deal, with several clubs including Geelong, Essendon, Hawthorn and Brisbane circling the 24-year old.
