There is a right and wrong way of doing things.

Unfortunately we keeping choosing option 2.

Yeah, that's ordinary for any player. Raph was a ripping guy and alienating people from the club for years isn't good for any organisation. I think like most clubs these things have become a lot better handled.

Just some quick comments after trying to catch up on not much at all:

1. Please stop mentioning our draw last year. Our football was mostly putrid. Almost unwatchably putrid. The draw just meant that we got a few early wins on the back of a couple of decent quarters a game, especially while the top clubs found their feet.

2. OK for Gags to say we focus on the draft, but with the picks we've got, that should take all of a few minutes and make sweet F.A difference to anything.

3. Walsh says he doesn't want St. Kilda to be seen as irrelevant. Strong words. Has he actually started work yet? Doesn't seem like it.

4. It's hard to believe that in the entire country there isn't a midfielder we have any interest in whose name wasn't De Goey. Not one. Jesus holy f'ing christ they must rate Windy and Owens, or think we're picking up Joel Selwood in the draft.

5. I do think we'll get improvement from our list next year. Professional players must reach a point where they just get sick and tired of playing crap football and do something about it. We have just got to be at that point by now. Same goes for goalkicking. Having said that, with this year's finalists pillaging the expansion clubs while we "focus on the draft", we're unlikely to actually move much on the ladder even with that improvement. Can't plummet either with the state of the teams below us. I just hope that we play some better footy, even if we finish around 9th to 11th again.

6. Have a good day everyone, don't waste half of it listening to commercials and BS mega trades on TR!

Collingwood and Richmond also getting a huge injection of talent in.
I’m not really that impressed with what other clubs are doing. Call me crazy but when this all shakes out and you look at who improved there best 22 and by how much some of its marginal. Richmond assuming that they get hopper and norf through default and draft picks are looking good imo.

They'll probably have more soon after Hopper goes.

Can't see why they'd be that interested in our picks though unless we want to do something like 9 for 12 and 18.

Maybe if we take one of their overpaids they might give us something juicy.

Would we prefer Hill or Whitfield?

If the answer is Whitfield then maybe we move Hilly on (along with his entire contract) and take on Whitfield in exchange for a few of those picks in the teens (with a future pick going back to them)

Potentially look at something like;

Hill to NM for a future 3rd
Whitfield, picks 12 & 19 to STK
Future 2nd to GWS

Leaves us with 9, 12, 19, 28, 32, 47, 85
(2023 1st, 3rd (STK) 3rd (NM), etc.

It's massively lopsided but in the new age of salary dumps maybe it works. You'd probably upgrade that F2 to our 2023 1st.

That would have been under Watters. So much for the group hugs.

I remember Baker was dealt with fairly brutally as well.

Rob Eddy none too happy either.

I've been retrenched before , and had the good fortune of being put through a paid program, its a pity that the AFL , with all its resources for new players, can't have some sort of system to ensure that delisted players are treated right.

Raph Clark was delisted in the same off-season we let Goddard leave. A trend perhaps?

100% offloading just hopper will get them 9000 points and if they get what they want for hopper will have 7 top 19 draft picks.
That's a full rebuild in 1 draft
We currently have 3052 points or the equivalent of pick 1

They're not taking 7 picks to the draft - it would result in seven players all coming off rookie contracts at the same time. They will consolidate a couple.

Can't believe they'd pay 2 first rounders to lose a player.

Yeesh, we're coping more heat than anyone at the moment.

4 months ago we were 8-3 on the berth of finals and now we're getting slammed from every direction.

Give us not the worst draw in the league. Give us Coffield and Hayes back. Give us Lenny leading the Mids.

We perform our best when no one gives us a chance, 2023 might be our year on that basis alone

A friend of mine coached up in the NT when Clarke was just a kid, he said he was an absolute superstar. Once again we haven’t had a great fun with injuries and illness, anyway clarke deserved better.

To me he wasn't quite up to it at AFL level , just that little bit off the pace most games. When he played VFL he was spectacular.

I'd like it on the record that I think, on top of the concussions, that the "he's just selfish" stuff got to Higgins.

IMO there are two ways Higgins can go: selfish, productive Higgins or non-AFL standard Higgins. I want him hungry for goals. We have others for the pressure and the unselfish stuff, but Higgins is a point of difference in his ability to score himself at that size.
I don't know the stats but I always feel Higgins games can be dictated by his first shot at goal. I think he's a terrifically talented player but lets the game dictate to him.
He's still young though so he could be anything.
