It's a bit of a furphy that Scott's Norf teams were average. They were very good teams, just not as good as the teams above them.

They had some outstanding players in their prime (Cunnington Ziebell Waite Higgins Goldy Gibson & Boomer still going strong).
Robbie Tarrant and Ben Brown.

Issue was they never had other mids as good as boomer. But they still won finals under Scott

And for what it’s worth.

Seeing as this has played out verbatim to the info I posted here.

North want to get a deal done.

So there is every chance if they have the picks. One will get done.

But as I said. We want a good deal. This isn’t a fire sale. We obviously still believe Clark can be a good footballer. But the club obviously think they aren’t wedded to him either. 👍
The more you can’t have something the more you want it. North will get sucked in to paying massive obers.
I say obers not overs.

Not boomer level.

He did decline after leaving us.
Boomer?!?!

He made Dal Danto look like a contested demon. Never had one per on run in front of the ball so often and played so much bruise free football. The little prick used to snipe behind play and run off and get incensed if anybody had the gaul to give it back. Everything bad about a football was incapsulated in him.

If he was playing football in my back yard I would close the curtains.

If Clark wants to move and we won't allow it he will be moving this time next year whether the club likes it or not with less leverage.

If he walks to the draft next year, we won't be getting first round compo.
Not necessarily.

He is an unhappy kid. The same way most of us had been as kids when our parents told us off and told us to be better.

You get over that when everything is good

In your opinion is a good deal involving pick swaps or does it involve additional draft picks?

Boomer played one more game than Dal in their last season ( 2016).
Boomer kicked a lot more goals of course.
Dal had 545 disposals, slightly more, but similar to his disposals from the same number of games in 2013.
Harvey had 496.
Dal had 181 contested, vs Boomer's 137.
Dal had 68 clearances vs 30.

Different players, but i wouldn't say that Boomer is a clearly better midfielder.

Dal in 2016 had exactly the same number of disposals from 22 games as Seb Ross did in 2022. But Dal disposed of them like Dal did, not like Ross does.

My issue is everyone noticed Hunter's lack of physical development compared to others, why has it taken so long for the club to put the acid on him?

5 years to be allowed to be a "lazy" trainer is more of indictment on the club than the kid.

The club may have spoken to him, but surely a strength & conditioning coach grabs hold of him and makes him their project until he gets going?

It’s a fine line.

If we force him to stay bc no decent trade offer, we have to hope he turns it around, has a great year and decides to stay after all. His mates need to get around him.
Much like Papley did when he couldn’t get to the Blues.

Hopefully some maturity and self-reflection will help Clark with this. He’s too good a talent to lose - but as we all know, talent alone won’t do it. He needs tough, but also love, otherwise he will bail next season, and as you say, we’ll get very little then.

Was Papley leaving for the blues because unhappy or the godfather offer the blues probably offered? Still it's a good example regardless.

If this drags onto next year and he still walks for a second rounder, the club looks as silly as ever during trade time.

I’d want a top 10’pick.

That looks unluckily. I would do #12
Can you name any players who wanted a trade then didn't request one once their contract was up?
Okeefe and Papley come to mind.

Not necessarily.

Unhappy or attitude issue? Being told to get your ass in the gym and work on your fitness shouldn't be a reason to crack the sads. Secondly i thought he was pissed because he found out the club was shopping him around. So why would he be less pissed off next year if that was the reason?

Why what have the club been offered now?

If it drags into next year and he walks for a second rounder, we don't look as silly as trading a contracted player for a second rounder this year.

This is going to be a very interesting watch.
North are putting all their energies into Clark as their “big signing”as they haven’t got anyone else interested in coming to them.

I reckon they’ll go all out.

Very definitely a seller’s market though so we’re at a huge advantage. I’m really torn - would hate to see him go - but not sure what the price is that I’d have no option to accept though.

Fascinating couple of days ahead.
