I agree if you are going to reset you need to let some quality go to get the draft picks in. For all the talk that we can't attract talent to the club we also hardly ever have anyone that wants to leave. You need churn if you want change.

1 first rounder per year will not reset the club. We can debate who is expendable and who might bring the right return but if we jealously hold on to all our talent we will just stay where we are.

Personally Clark and Gresh's actual value to us winning games is more hypothetical than real. Marshall is more important but bit shocked that he is turning 28 and we are only now saying he is ready to be the No.1 Ruck. NWM that would depend if he forces the issue. But the whole list should be considered. We need a shake up.
100%
Also as we start bringing in the A grade player talent it would be a smart idea we have the equally A grade staff to identify, develop and coach them

Everyone should buy into the full tank, it's pretty liberating tbh. Means you don't have to care too much about any individual results and you can just look for green shoots of improvement in any of the kids. Join me in chasing pick 1!
The last time we did that we picked the wrong name.

Hawthorn and Essendon entered negotiations before us, didn't have intel, got same result as St Kilda.

Only Geelong were ever getting Bowes. They were into him much earlier than any club.

One thing I don't get about this narrative. If Geelong were so into Bowes for so long, why exactly did GC give them a free draft pick?

I'd argue Roo, BJ and Joey are more a cause of the issues than the move to Seaford.

The tail wagged the dog far too easily back then.

A stronger admin would have given them all a clip and told them to focus on football rather than the long term admin of the club.
We seemed to do pretty well when they were there at the time.
They used to call playing for each other, playing with intensity and being relentless.... saints footy.
They didn't have to be told to put effort in, be selfless or to play for each other and the club they just did it.
I have hopes Lenny can bring some saints footy back

I can’t believe Gags has said gaining Cordy could free us up to swing Dougal Howard forward... I’m over it already. Skip next year entirely [emoji50]

What does it say about Richmond player development...just saying we are not yhe only club that discards top end talent. Get him in and see how he goes nothing to lose.

Same with Stack lose unit gees he will fit in well at Saints.

You just never know in the raffle of life.

If we were willing to roll the dice on Degoey with megabucks, then getting Stack in on minimum wage makes sense to me. Him and RCD...not too shabby at all.

You’re a gentleman and a scholar xoxo

I'm happy bringing in picks over players. These commentators don't know jack about our list profile, and we have a lot of Jack's!
I've been as critical of the club as anyone recently, but I have to say I'm getting a bit tired of people using media assclowns like Barrett and Cleary to denigrate St Kilda.

Those two in particular and the media in general are quite happy to present any facts in a negative light in order to further decrease the club's standing amongst its own fans and their AFL world in general.

I'm not saying the club has always done well, but I'm prepared to give the people running it a little bit of credit and not just automatically assume they are completely incompetent, which is the go-to assumption of so many people here - based on nothing but the supposition of a bunch of idiots who wouldn't know the first thing on how to run a club, or even tie their own shoelaces without mummy's help.

Weiderman and Schache would fall behind Sharman wouldn't you think and after them if you need a relief ruck , Hayes comes in or anyone that can make a contest in the ruck - Howard , Battle , Wilkie , Lienert / they have all done it.

So to me I think we are right with Campbell waiting in the 2s

We also have a few kids in the 2s that could surprise this year - for instance Alison had look anything but a AFL class type player , but the last game of the season was best of ground I heard and at 20yrs old at 1.95m could shut a lot of us up who wrote him off.

Heath with a full pre-season behind him could also push for selection knowing the guy is 2.04m and showed a bit in a few games before fading out towards the end of the season and being 95+kgs , will only comeback bigger and stronger.

Oscar Adams is another big guy at 1.97m and usually having a kid going through his 2nd season with the conditioning of a tough preseason could see him pushing for a game.

Just these 3 kids who where by no way dart picks and worth value in the draft , could all make a big leap this coming season.
And by the looks our list management must think these kids have a better chance of playing in our 22 than Weed and Shockie.

Allison is probably the worst player I could recall is drafting inside the top 40…

That was my plan for this trade period but I am starting to think that is just going to keep us where we are. You will probably be closer to the pin than Stav's hypothetical when we get to next year, but I think your optimism about player trades changing is optimistic most of the decent players traded went for high cost and big multi year salaries. More players got traded but not cheaper and the TPP is going way up so Salary Dumps are a momentary illusion. What you are seeing as a buyers market I think is a sellers market.

I am not saying gut the list, be selective like they tried to be with Hill and Clark, but hopefully a little more successfully.

You want to be trading away your older players not youth unless they are spuds. Unfortunately they usually don't have much trade value in that case. Marshall is probably the most expendable big name because you could possibly find a ruck to replace him. He'd need a big year to get a couple of firsts though. Nailing picks in any draft is the best chance of having excess to trade through.

This is a fair description of how Gringo operates……. Cape & all

I'd say that's our drafting after an 11 year rebuild that still isn't finished. Your idea is to burn the house down when you don't take the bin out for 4 weeks.

You literally want to trade out all the talent and hope the idiots that have the worst drafting record in the equalisation era to do it to us again from the ground up as Tasmania get a team. I'm just glad you aren't a list manager.

Is that my idea or is that my thoughts as to what they will do in 12 months ?
