If they have pick 1 this year, they should - they need to rebuild nearly an entire list a.s.a.p.

It wouldn't be us though - it'll will be a club with 2 decent 2023 r1 picks already - GWS, North, WB.

We could maybe get involved by trading our 2024 r1 pick and one of the North/GC r2 picks for a mid/late r1 pick from a high finishing club, and then that and our 2023 r1 pick for a top-5 pick if WC got one and Moir was still on the board (assuming we're keen on Moir).

WC could potentially have 4 r1 picks this year in this scenario.

The scenario of being aggressive this off season and trading up in the draft is worth considering. In my opinion, we are 1 or 2 elite talents away from being a genuine premier threat. We either trade for these talents … preferably mids … or move up in the draft to get a Moir type. What it takes to do so is debatable, but it’s certainly worth a lot of thought

Wasnt what I asked! Reid will most likely go number one .. out of reach, fogert about him. Who in the 4 - 8 range is worth trading our first, a second and a player equivalent to a Wingard? Or does the draft even out and we can get the talent we need at 10- 14? Provided that’s where we pick
not a year of standouts outside of harley reid at this stage, especially mids

waiting for players to put their hands up

I remember Knightmare banging on that Daicos would be better than Horne. He's likely got one thing right at least.

I didn't think Daicos would have as much impact at AFL level as he did in his junior years
daicos is definitely miles better a this stage but jhf has alot of developmnt to come

remember hodge taking 3-4 yrs, can see this with jhf..but you wouldn't swap daicos

sam darcy when he's 26 yo , could be anything

Yeah I still think Horne has the potential to be one of the games best players. I just can't believe how well Daicos is doing plus he can still keep getting better. Horne would have to reach his full potential to be seen as the better player.

Hypothetically, imagine if that actually happened and we have a youngster in Rachele from the same draft that might also hit very high levels over his career

This draft at the top end might be seen down the track as a very strong draft

Daicos was immediately injected into a top 8 quality team not a Bottom 4 team (even though technically that season Collingwood did finish bottom 4). If you put JHF straight into a Melbourne or Geelong set up I bet he would have flourished too.

I still think Horne is massively overrated.

Thought so in his draft year too when everyone was flogging themselves over him..

Especially in that finals game for South.. that South lost due to Horne’s poor kicking resulting in half a dozen direct turnovers..

Yet the commentators just about jumped our of their skin everytime he went near the ball.

He’s definitely a decent player.. but I reckon Daicos is, and will remain, far better.. and I reckon Rachele will be better than JHF in the wash up too..

Daicos and Rach have far better skills.

Not biased at all

Need to see more when you're talking the kind of collateral you're talking...

Kicked 4.3 from 13 disposals for the Bays reserves today if you're interested.
We really need to see what he can do in the midfield. What is his 'awareness' like? Lateral movement? Contested ball? Does he panic kick when under pressure?

JHF is going to be very good. He will probably win half a dozen showdown medals before his career ends.
Is Daicos better? Probably, yes.
Will Rachele be better? Still TBC.

A write up here SANFL Player Focus: Ashton Moir (Glenelg)

Its misleading to say he kicked 4.3 from 13

he kicked 4.3 from 8 kicks. He played very deep but still thats understanding your role

If we can't get him and it would seem we might be well away from where we would need to be in the draft, I hope he goes to Gold Coast and we are in his ear for a few years time to be traded back here to us. He looks like a super talent

We ought to be in his ear JHF style. No need to sugar coat it, let him know we want him, ASAP and there is a big, long term contract for you

Whilst I don't 100% agree with your view, it is refreshing to hear.

I cringe a bit when I read/hear Adelaide supporters talking him up.

Yeah, he's likely going to be a good player, I just don't feel the need to tell everyone that. Every team has good players.

It's like some are so shit scared of him possibly being a champion of the game for 15 years, for our most hated rivals, that they are trying to get on the front foot to deal with the mental anguish.

This won't be everyone's motivation but I think it's real for some.

Daicos like Ablett Jnr
Horne-Francis like Dangerfield
Rachele like Martin
None of those are accurate

I think it's those that saw him as a junior showing traits of a superstar and formed an opinion before he was tied to anyone.

Jury’s out for me if rachele’s disposal is that good. Burnt a lot of ball the last few weeks. And don’t give me DE stats

Eh, Martin went most of Richmonds peak operating at 52-58% kicking efficiency.

I think the game of replicating Martin is more a case of the kicks he hit are very damaging, but you deal with a lot of ball burning instead of being someone who did it via a weight of numbers.

JHF actually reminds me alot of Nick Stevens.

Rachelle is nothing like Martin, Toby Green probably still the best comparison.

I've honestly not seen Daicos play enough to make any sort of comparison.

I suspect Rachele is carrying a finger injury. Starting in the Freo game he has uncharacteristically bobbled or dropped some really straightforward ball takes.

He seems to often be kicking the ball with the outside half of his foot rather than flush - symptoms are loopier trajectory and misdirection to the right. It is consistent with not being able to grip properly with your fingers and compensating with palm - which affects ball drop towards the outside of the foot.

Far out. Did you study biomechanics?

I watched a lot of his junior games including all the rep games. I worried he was a bit overrated for what he actually did in those games - but then SA often ends up looking a bit shit in rep games, so it can be hard for individual players to stand out.
