Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

I was surprised not to see him listed in geelongrecruit5 list of best KPF.
I don't know whether he is injured but he has the physical attributes and forward nous and can take a mark and kicks the ball beautifully. At over 200cms if he is there at our pick we will probably nab him

From my pov, the KPF options this year are likely these guys and maybe another 1-2 that develop

Daniel Curtin - 195cm - Claremont - 3 gls in 4 games at the colts, injured for most of last year, but looked fantastic at u16s and in the pre GF u17s game being BOG and likely top 5 pick, played u16s and pre GF day games as defender, but transitioning into a kpf

Archer Reid - 203cm - Gippsland - last year 16 gls from 12 gms, 2 uneventful champs games, a great trials game, really good mark and surprisingly good off the ground for a big man, nice kick, looking good this year so far, looked great at times at Hawks training this pre season.

Jed Walter - 194cm - GCS A - already a strong build with surprising speed and athleticism for a big lad, 6 gls in 3 gms in the NAB League last year for GCS A, also 9 gls in 4 gms for a struggling Allies team, already kicked 4 in 2 this year in the Coates League in 2 losses for the sun's, almost a Tom Hawkins clone

Nate Caddy - 192cm - North - high flier, loves a big mark on people's heads, 18 gls in 13 gms, 3 gls in 2 gms for VM at the champs, just recovered from a leg injury

Logan Morris - 192cm - West - 29 gls in 14 gms , 1 uneventful game at the champs for VM, good in the trials, kicking 2 goals a game and a very clever player

Riley Weatherill - 195cm - East - 16 gls in 10 gms, kicked 3 50m gls in round 1 this year, I liked his trials form too, there's potential with this guy, but the jury is still out on him.

Will McCabe (FS) - 196cm - Central Dist - 10 gls in 9 games at sanfl u18s last year playing Def and forw 50/50 approx, was a defender at the u16s and the pre GF day but like Curtin, making the transition to kpf, also kicked bags of goals in private school footy in SA

Morris may have been a deep forward last year, but Jets have pushed him to work up the ground this season. He gets involved from CHB to FF, presenting and affecting contests where his opponent just can't get to. His work rate is truly a testament to his diligence, kid works hard.
Tend to agree with you a little, the main point I guess I was making is that forwards these days under 192 are not considered KPF. There is a difference between working hard and being elite at AFL level, we basically have 191/192cm players playing midfield with elite testing results which I believe Caddy can do. Ie Phillipou, Finn Callaghan, Josh Dunkley, Noah Anderson just to name a few.

The only thing I would say about McCabe and granted I don't know a lot about him, but the SANFL u18 comp is not great footy. I love it when the SA kids play SANFL League as that shows whether their junior traits can translate into senior footy. Doesn't mean its right, just my opinion.

I know, people get too excited over sanfl u18 records, I'm aware.

I really liked what I saw from him at the u16s champs as an over ager, he is very quick and very courageous in going for big marks, I like those 2 qualities about him, also a good height and a good goal kicking record in SA school footy, adds to what I like.

Is this what occurred with Lemmey & some of the other SA Fwds last year? Played well & got good numbers at u/18 but didn't translate to SANFL?

They seemed to have massive (Top 5) predictions early in the season, then drifted by Draft.

*there were at least two that I was hoping we'd get (one of) with a late pick.

I reckon it has something to do with SA kids because you can see with the ones that play league generally get drafted much higher.

Is Finn O'Sullivan somewhat related to our jack o'sullivan Davo-27 ?

Is Finn a 2nd rounder at this stage?
Finn is an early shout for pick 1 next year, I don't think they are related, Jack is from Kyneton and Finn from Koroit I believe?, both goto or went to Xavier and play for Oakleigh and repping Vic Country, they have a lot of similarities, 1 is from the Geelong area and the other from GWV area, but who knows?
