Maybe we have shown we are keen as an SPP option and draft watchers have gotten confused? If we want a skillful half back Lual (defending), Jiath (intercepting), Roberts (accumulation), Wilson (dash) are likely all available to us and much better options on exposed form, each with their own strengths depending on what we are after. DeMattia might even be there. Hard to see us overlooking them all for Carroll.

You think he'd be competing with TDK and Pitto for a spot in the team?
There aren't many 19 year olds rucking at AFL level.
Any guarantee we'll be able to keep TDK at the end of 2025 given how tight our salary cap is??? Where would that leave us if he left??? The art of list management is being able to plan ahead. I would argue that it's been dubious list management to retain Mirkov

Fair enough.
I' wouldn't call it dubious to retain Mirkov (although I'm not optimistic on him making it). We gave a project ruck a 2 year contract extension after he'd been on the list 18 months, which is pretty fair. You wouldn't want to be paying out 2 players, and it would seem especially harsh on Mirkov given the heart thing ruined his last season.

I personally would have kept LOB over Mirkov, if we had to pay out a player under contract.

LOB at least a good VFL player and capable of coming into the AFL team if required. Also, versatile enough to play a couple of roles so can move him based on what suits the VFL team. Mirkov limits us at VFL level at he can't play anywhere but no.1 ruck, leaving HOK playing mainly forward. At the same time, he's clearly not ready for AFL even as a back-up as evidenced by Young and SOS playing ahead of him when our rucks were injured.

Thanks mate.
Can you throw me a couple of names to keep an eye on Monday night?

The fact I’d only be happy with maybe 4 of those shows we’re at a very fluid position in this draft.

How much has the heart issue stymied his overall development too…?

Think it's the nature of the talent this year

Think there is a stand out 7, then another 7, then 15-20 odd at very similar levels

I wouldn't say that much considering his characteristics

After the stoppage he struggles to impact, even when he is at the contest

Rectifying his heart issue could allow him to cover the ground more, but needs to have more impact

Ashton Moir

POS: Forward
Ht 187cm, Wt 85g, DOB 15/4/05
From Glenelg/South Australia

Moir has attracted interest from the Blues, who have two picks in this section of the draft. Moir's season didn't hit the heights he had hoped after blitzing things as a bottom-ager last year, when he booted 30 goals from 10 games for Glenelg's under-18s side. He has beautiful kicking skills on both sides of his body and can jump to take a grab, with some clubs seeing his spot as a half-forward and others as a marking medium defender.

If not him? If Mitch Edwards is available he could be grabbed by the Blues, while Lance Collard is another potential option for them in this range.

Picks: 22, 28, 68 (likely to use two selections)

One of the Blues' two picks will stay just inside the top 30 and the other fall just outside. The Blues are among the clubs to have closely tracked ruckman Mitch Edwards, who excelled last year and they could get in before Fremantle has access to him under NGA rules. Another who impressed as a bottom-ager was Cooper Simpson, whose carnival was cut short by a bad corkie but shapes as another potential option for the Blues. Carlton has also looked at half-back runner Matthew Carroll from the Sandringham Dragons, quick Subiaco midfielder Riley Wills as well as Dandenong half-back Billy Wilson. The Blues are expected to use a rookie selection next Wednesday.
