I suppose as a pressure fwd he'd be handy.Keen to see how this Kennedy as a forward thing looks and whether it's actually something they follow through with or it's just a weird pre-season thing
Yeah would imagine he's probably low on the pecking order of small forwards and gets swung back to a more natural position when they start playing footy but it's worth a try to see how it looks at leastI suppose as a pressure fwd he'd be handy.
But you'd assume Peatling would be a better pick...but maybe they want him in the back line.
I just hope Kingsley locks down some roles so the players get a good run at it before the season starts
They are at the place in the squad where you want versatility. Probably not first choice anywhere, but you want them to be able to fill what ever role is required as form and injury impact the squad.I suppose as a pressure fwd he'd be handy.

Probably unlikely it's 3 captains again considering just how unique that is across the competiton, don't really mind whatever conclusion they come to, it's hard to get any sort of accurate reading on the real leadership qualities these guys have so whatever they come up with probably worksSeems Adam still hasn’t settled on the captain(s)… I hope Toby remains

Three, two, one? Giants ponder captaincy call in Kingsley era
GWS is yet to decide whether it will retain three captains in 2023 as coach Adam Kingsley and his new assistants assess their optionswww.afl.com.au
Yeah, 3 captains doesn't work. Leadership groups are there to spread the responsibility.Probably unlikely it's 3 captains again considering just how unique that is across the competiton, don't really mind whatever conclusion they come to, it's hard to get any sort of accurate reading on the real leadership qualities these guys have so whatever they come up with probably works
Didn’t the Swans win a flag with multiple Capatains?Yeah, 3 captains doesn't work. Leadership groups are there to spread the responsibility.
Upon reflection, it was a symptom of how the team and playing style was compromised.
Adam seems not entirely on board with the 3 captain model as well. Our new coach wants to put his stamp on the club and is not shy about making changes. He has already restructured the coaching staff, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he abandons the 3 captain model.Yeah, 3 captains doesn't work. Leadership groups are there to spread the responsibility.

Point taken. It seemed like an interim measure because of the pressure on Cogs. That should have passed by now.Didn’t the Swans win a flag with multiple Capatains?
Yep.Didn’t the Swans win a flag with multiple Capatains?
I think it'll change just because 3 captains is very rare and it's probably unlikely that Kingsley wants to run things that way not becaues it "doesn't work" but just that it's pretty unique and Kingsley might want something a bit more orthodox like a 1/2 captain model. I don't really care what they go with, they know way more about the inner workings of everyone's leadership a hell of a lot more then we do, we see a couple hours every weekend but its the whole week that matters. Hope Cogs gets to be the/a captain.Yeah, 3 captains doesn't work. Leadership groups are there to spread the responsibility.

There's no way they could go down to 2 and ditch 1.Think it’ll be Cogs or Chook as stand alone.
Love TFG but a Captain also needs a level head.
That’s why I said Cogs or Chook. Not both. There's no way they could go down to 2 and ditch 1.
It's 3 or 1 I guess.
Kelly also has the longest contract with us, expiring in 2029You would think if Kelly wants it he will be captain. His form is more consistent then Cognilio. But given injures, maybe 2 captains isn't a bad idea, even 3.
Why couldn't they do that? Personally I feel like Kelly and Cogs as co-captains would be ideal. There's no way they could go down to 2 and ditch 1.

It's a weird look if one of them gets the flick as captain yet the other 2 get to stay onWhy couldn't they do that? Personally I feel like Kelly and Cogs as co-captains would be ideal.

Toby was only a co-captain for 1 season. It's not weird at all if they're restructuring the leadership system under a new coachIt's a weird look if one of them gets the flick as captain yet the other 2 get to stay on
I prefer 1 captain or retaining the 3 captain model. I know they are professionals but if only one of them got dropped, that person would need a lot of resilience to cope, and the dropping may also adversely impact their game? It's a weird look if one of them gets the flick as captain yet the other 2 get to stay on
Binga will be in the 22.Your club’s best tactical substitute options for the 2023 AFL season
Who can have an impact for all 18 clubs off the bench in 2023?www.sen.com.au

There is no standout candidate for the Giants.
Having lost a pair of guns in Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper, their midfield stocks aren’t quite as deep as they have been previously so a fringe or younger on-baller might not be the obvious option as it was in 2022. The Giants also recruited small forward Toby Bedford in the off-season and he could potentially push ahead of a player like Brent Daniels.
Daniels missed all of last season due to persistent hamstring injuries, so naturally the club would want to ease him back into the fray of senior footy. That scenario makes him suited perfectly to the sub role. The 23-year-old could come on and make an impact late in games with his dynamism up forward and his strength around the ball.
Similarly, experienced forward Daniel Lloyd is one who might not get a start in GWS’ forward line so could be used tactically off the bench.
Callum Brown’s versatility is appealing as a tactical sub, emerging talent Conor Stone, who like Daniels had hamstring issues last year, is also an option, as is 19-year-old Cooper Hamilton.

What are the thoughts of GWS posters?
If Bedford and Darcy Jones both push ahead of Brent Daniels, then Binga could fit as a tactical subsitute. He's experienced, would bring zip and energy when he came on, and could slot into forward or midfield roles.
Not sure Dan Lloyd holds a similar value as tactical sub, except for his general AFL knowledge and experience.
Callum Brown I could agree with having some flexibility to cover positions - although when the VFL team is playing he probably needs to be playing to build his own experience. I'd similarly say that Stone & Hamilton would be not well served being the sub for too many weeks - they need game time to demonstrate they're ready to break into the best 22. However, as two of a longer list of players who roll through the sub position, they'd be OK.
What about Cal Ward? If he starts finding in harder to run out a full game, could we use him in the sub role? The issue would be he's primarily a mid ... and can he cover enough positions off the sub's bench? But he did play half back last year, and we're apparently trialling him forward this year, so could that point to possible use in this role.
The other suggestion I would have is James Peatling. Can reliably play both forward and half back roles, and therefore also plug a midfield loss with some judicious rearrangement of team positions/roles. You'd never want to tag the one player in this role too many times in a row, but Peatling strikes me as a decent option if he doesn't make the team.
