Another view on who should be in our best 23 this year..it seems they are wrapped with our number 1 draft pick and think he will make it
No mention of Kennedy, Buckley, Stone or Angwin (the later well down the pecking order but still young and potential need to be taken into account)

Backline talls of Taylor, Haynes & Idun - that doesn't pass muster.

I personally think Davis will play when fit
It will be interesting to see who slots into the 2nd KPD spot between Sam Taylor and (presumably) Nick Haynes. The options would seem to be (with HH training forward) Davis, Buckley & Aleer.

Buckley got a shout out in the recent match-sim report, with Davis a milder compliment.

However, to me, one of those talls will be in the team, with Idun the 'tweener, and then 3 mediums (seemingly Whitfield, Cumming & Ash).

Buckley's my thought, and has been since the start of this thread - it was just caveated around his return from injury. But "surprise" would be too strong a word if the coaches went Davis IMHO.

Not only surprised, but I’d be disappointed!

Keefe the other chance depending on who we play

Yeah he is a bit of a mystery isn't he? If he is fit and firing he will put pressure on for spots. But at 195 and returning from a serious injury, there will be some questions on his ability to lock down bigger forwards.

I doubt davis has signed on for a development role in the twos. He would be intending to play. Might not be every week though.

If Phil is fit I think he's first to be called in if there's an injury to one of Taylor/Buckley. Buckley has been fit for quite a while if I'm remembering things correctly, he was running towards the end of last season so this isn't a situation where he's been ramping up his work load as preseason continues in order to get him fit for R1, he's been fit for quite a while and all the evidence on field points to him being pretty clearly the best option. It's tough to have all matchups covered but the big boys is something Taylor is probably goint to have to get used to working with, the best key defenders in the comp take on a variety of sizes doesn't mean he has to be as good against them as he would someone more mobile and more his size but he still has to be good. He's an AA now on a big contract (Don't really care how much he makes but the fact that he'd be taking up a not insignificant % of our salary cap) so he has start taking the top option even if it means mixing it up with Lynch, Hawkins and Dixon types.

We don't have a spot for him.

I'm not a great fan, but if one of the midfielders went down long term, then I'd probably consider it given we lost a few experienced players. I just don't see him as a long term "likely to succeed".

Hi Folks,
With Taranto and Hopper gone, is Toby Greene likely to play in the midfield, or stay forward?
Cheers.

Almost certainly forward.
I assume this is fantasy footy related, the big winner with the departures will be Perryman who will slot in the middle.

Yep, Supercoach. Any chance Callaghan gets a slice of the pie?
Yes. I expect he'll get picked every week. But, personally, I expect his inside time to be a limited % just to prevent getting him too banged up this young, so may not be the best SC/AF option. Not that I'm any good at those, so probably should not give advice.
