What World Cup game was better between us and kiwis the 2015 match at Eden Park where it was 150 v 150/9.

Or yesterday's one.

Both were classics 1 win each. And complete opposites with ball dominating at Eden Park and Bat yesterday.

Pretty sure the Eden Park crowd got NZ over the line that game. NZ did everything to lose that game....but happy for them to win in front of a home crowd....as I was happy to see Aust return the favour, in front of a home crowd a week or so later...all works out in the end.

Just scrolled through 5 pages of largely whinging to say well done Aus, what a win!

Our top order is in scintillating form. If one of Warner, Head and Marsh can score big each game and another make 50 then we can get by with our middle order being in fairly average form. The last few games have shown this.

A top order ton + a couple of middle/lower order quickfire cameos (Maxy, Inglis, Cummins, Starc all shown they are capable) means that Smith and Lab can strike at 90 and score 30-odd and just ensure we don't collapse in 40 overs.

We've gotten this far on our batting, and Zampa turning things around. Cummins has a better game yesterday too, great to see him striking sweetly with the bat and bowling better. Starc and Haze below their best so just imagine once they click.

NZ are in great form, and we beat them.

We can beat India.

Think Smith/Marnus and Starc out for the next game. We need quick bowlers with tricks on these pitches so one needs to go. Two is ok, 3 is too many. Hazelwood has been decent and the other one is the captain. Having said that the captain did a good job at the death conceding only 24 runs in 4 overs and collecting 2 wickets but generally lacks the tricks needed for a short form quick on these surfaces.

Probably Abbott in for Starc. Stoinis in for one of Smith or Marnus. Love another spinner but their isn't one.

In the context of a fairly long tournament I imagine we may be open to resting Starc, Cummins and Haze at least once each. Though we've got a decent break now before our next game so perhaps not as essential.

Feels a bit like the 99 World Cup where we took a while to find our feet but started to find form when it mattered.

With a potential semi against South Africa on the way. The host nation is doing well unlike 1999 though.

Great effort from Australia to crawl across the line against us without Williamson and Southee, get them back and it will be a different story.

I hate south Africa, but I was so glad they won last night, so it pushes sh!t minnow countries like New Zealand out of the world cup and into obscurity where they belong. Was a beautiful thing watching it unfold.
