Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

If we aren't putting huge $1m, 5+ year contracts in front of LDU or Brayshaw next year we are incompetent. Rebuild is likely for nothing without another elite mid (even assuming some of the guys we do have eg Rachele reach elite as well)

Nothing groundbreaking here

Adelaide

Arrivals: Chris Burgess (traded – Gold Coast)
Departures: James Borlase (delisted), Tyler Brown (delisted), Tom Doedee (free agency – Brisbane Lions), Jackson Hately (delisted), Shane McAdam (traded – Melbourne), Fischer McAsey (retired), Andrew McPherson (delisted), Tariek Newchurch (delisted), Paul Seedsman (retired)
Contracted: 38 (no category B rookies)
Draft picks: 10, 14, 20, 89
The Crows delisted Borlase after unsuccessfully applying for him to spend a fourth season as a category B rookie, but they committed to redrafting him as a rookie, while Nick Murray earned a promotion to the primary list. They are planning to make two or three picks at the national draft, depending on whether they can package selections to move up.
Has there been anything reported about Parnell being able to stay on the rookie list for another year? I thought we had to upgrade him too but I haven't seen that mentioned lately.

It would appear that clubs have been given the OK for MSD players to spend 3.5 years on the rookie list. The AFL hasn't bothered with any media releases, to inform the general public, but it appears the clubs have been given the green light.

FFS I genuinely hope at least we do this, at least try and offer these players that would make a difference to our midfield.

Brady Rawlings isn't doing that.

I think the best offer Geelong will get would be from us with 14, 20 and F2.
He’s got runs on the board from his time with us and north so don’t put it past him…I think you’re in the best position to trade yes but to me that looks like Caddy/O’Sullivan for Demattia, Goad and a F2. Not sure I’d do that your picks are in absolute prime position at the start of each tier of draftees IMO.

I don’t think any club will be willing to pay what they will be demanding for it. It would have to be a club desperate for a KPD picking O’Sullivan because no one else left would be worth it IMO. If anyone is going to s**t the bed it would be Brady Rawlings offering 15,17,18 for 8 and 25. Even then I don’t think the Cats would send 25 back.
May I introduce hamish ogilvie to you.

As long as he’s still one of the best midfielders in the comp..

Never.
The issue that Oliver has is much bigger than just an occasional or recreational user.

If it gets to the extent that the Demons need him gone, you can guarantee not only have they exhausted all avenues to clean him up, but also he is problem not only to himself but to others as well.

This IMO is far different to the Stengle and Brouch issue.

My gut tells me you are sniffing the right trail. I don’t have fun facts to support this and I guess you don’t either

Absolutely. If Dees are trying to offload him next post season it would be sheer stupidity IMO to be taking on a 6m contract for a player with problems of that magnitude. Get it wrong and you blow your culture and salary cap for the next half a decade plus.

Both of those players will be getting offers that large from their own clubs.
