Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

Why give up pick 5 now when we won't have to next year? For Cox that is.
not sure I like this talk of spending high draft capital on a KPD a good as Cox is..We need a A grade mid. Can we ask if Tom Green wants to come - $1.2 million a year for 7 years and we can give GWS pick 5 if we get it and whatever else we have...now THAT would be a proper use of resources for what or list needs

Because Freo could match and we would have to trade anyway, because we have KPD injuries next year and because other suitors could join in next year, like with Ben McKay this year and we could end up paying way more or missing out.

Valid point re matching

By the end we'll have to settle for Burgess and a few shitty 2024 picks.
You know what..with this club and that club interested in the players available, it would not shock me in the least if it ended up with us getting sweet F A and no pick 4 and we have essentially the draft hand we started with and had flicked a pick or 2 into next year

Heard Sholl to NM last year. Family history at the club. No surprises if he goes this year. capitalises on his trade capital we built from his over selection this year. Do you think North will trade for him for LDU
North are likely getting Dylan Stephen’s and possibly Mckercher

Bailey Scott top 3 in B and F this year

The Sholl ship has likely sailed

Where has our fishing poster boy gone, McHenry has disappeared. Surely he is on the trade table along with Scholl.

I have lost all confidence that Cook will play anymore than a handful of AFL games he showed some flair a couple of seasons ago but his lack of intensity and inconsistency seems to have become more common.

would we offer Murphy, Hamill, Himmelberg or even Strauhn to free up spots and bring in fresh faces?
We have McHenry so many games and kept cook in the SANFL... Cook has so much more potential.

Why would you draft a player mostly on their tagging ability?

Ask Rendell, he told the story on SEN. And probably had never tagged, but part of the art would be seeing what a player will turn out to do well. I’m sure his u18 bio had him as a ball winning mid, but Rendell must have seen something in him to predict he’d be a handy run with player.
