Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

HUH?

He's been around the same mark for months and possibly amongst several others in contention for pick 10 or 14.

I doubt he'd be the target if as Justin Reid stated we'd like to move up the board if we can.
I wouldn't count on it .....I think Windsor is a mid in the making, has all the attributes, and he's not as outside as you believe ....as usual TWT ;)

BTW ...he hasn't been rated at #11 previously

I’ll be surprised if we trade any of our picks before drat night. Surely we wait until pick 8 is on the board then make the call?
Yep ....would seem the way to go, pick #8, you never know who'll be there

Unfortunately at that point, we won’t get much change for picks 10 and 14. Perhaps a future 3rs for some more points if we’re lucky
10 & 20 are unlikely to see us move up the board .....is there a Club high enough that would entertain #10 & #14 ? Only GWS and 2 x 1st round picks for a 3 position ladder move ....hard to justify IMO

Trade ups that early in the draft barely ever happen on draft night, the club with the high pick usually is just comfortable enough to take a player at that selection

If we move up, it’ll be before the night IMO

My boy Caleb Windsor is on the whip ....marking his way up the rankings, and now starting to get the plaudits he deserves

You and Mutineer are both right really, he’s not been as high as 11 before but he’s been around that range for the past while

I’m shocked Wilson is 4 spots below him tbh

The commentary continues around Wilson being an HF / Wing at AFL level .....whereas Windsor is most likely going to end up a MID, which I can totally see in his game

I can't comment on Wilson's ability as a Mid ....I've watched Windsor more

Tbh I see Wilson having far more midfield potential, has looked good in the CBAs for Murray. Good speed and spread from the contest

Windsor I see as a very good wing at the next level, but still primarily a wing. Maybe Josh Daicos is a good ceiling?

Agreed, no way you’re delisting Cook, someone could take him. He also would become an unrestricted free agent on his next contract, so if he comes good we could lose him.

Let’s see if Sloane is team first.

Based on what Sloane has said another club could offer him 5 more years and he’d flatly refuse to talk to them. He’s comfortably the best candidate.

Looking at the Cal Twomey's Phantom Draft as at today

For our Pick 10 excluding F/S & GC Academy - James Leake with next Darcy Wilson
For our Pick 14 excluding F/S & GC Academy - Riley Hardeman with next Ollie Murphy
For our Pick 20 excluding F/S & GC Academy - Will Green with next Mitch Edwards next Archer Reid and at 25 Taylor Goad.

Even though I don't think First Round Picks are for Ruck but if this is their natural Draft position then there are 3 Ruck prospects.

Any thoughts

Its his own talent order thankfully as Leake is listed as a defender. But Wilson..yes please

My thoughts are that taking a ruck within the first 30 picks of any draft is dumb.. almost as dumb as taking a KPD in the top 10 of any draft…

Seriously.. we take a draftee ruck and they wont play for us for 2 years minimum.

They’ll be behind ROB, TT, Himmelberg, strawnie and probably even burgess and bloody Borlase!..

Pointless.

We need two mids and a small forward.. the small forward so we can release rankine, pedlar and rachele into more midfield time..

If we need rucks… steal them from other clubs when they have been developed and are stuck behind the main ruck at that club and if we need KPD’s… get them as rookies or supps.. where we’ve had heaps more success getting our KPD’s..

Seriously… this idea that a draftee ruck should be anywhere near a priority with any of our first three picks is ridiculous.. and it makes me angry because I wouldnt put it past the dumbfxxk morons, who decide these things at our club, using pick 10 on a ruck.. they are literally that stupid.

Cats would likely jump at that offer without any hesitation given their aging list, the chance to get two relatively high draft picks before the quality thins out a bit for a 2 pick downgrade is extremely good business for them and not so good for us. I would hope if we're upgrading we'd be looking to do better than pick 8.
One of the respected draft watchers talked about a quality top 10-11 recently. Currently we may fall just outside of that inc Academy picks. This upgrade is predicated in our strong belief that we need pick 8 to achieve our desired player.

what other team is likely to allow us to upgrade IF the player is there at 8 but deemed unlikely at 10

Pick 9 - not worth it

GWS go quality over quantity so think 7 is a no go.

Dee’s pick 6 - see above

Bullies pick 5 and all other earlier picks - forget it. Would need to include next years first

Not sure who else is open to trading? Your thoughts?

Ps my post wasn’t quite as simple either as you quoted back RE straight pick swaps this year

Oh, and get ready for Hamish O to pick Ian Callinan’s son with either pick 14 or 20..

Cause Hamish is “edgy” and loves thinking he’s some sort of mystical draft guru that knows better than everyone else..

I mean.. every single draft in the last few years we’ve all seen him do it.. pick a player literally no one thought would go anywhere near that high and wouldve still been on the board 30 picks later… just cause he’s too smart by half.

He’s got a reputation to continue to uphold.

With his record.. the bloke should never be allowed to make decisions on picks in the top 30..

On the night, pick 9 for pick 10 and a F2 is absolutely worth it IF the player we really want is there and a deal has been done because Essendon are after a different player possibly

The industry is too small for feelings to impact.

Ultimately there are no such things as "trading relationships" or whatever, more every team is actively trying to screw each other over.

There are some teams that are easy to deal with and some are not.

I can't remember the specifics but I recall an article regarding Carlton wouldn't trade a player to Pies because they despised them at the time.

They're not making decisions in a complete vacuum.

FFS how many picks are we going to burn on Tassie players. IDGAF about the Tassie team coming in, I do care about the fact that there hasn't been any elite players ever to come out of there.
