I agree on Himmelberg, but you just said you could see the sense in chasing Cox ;)
I meant, if there's a choice between the 2 ....definitely Himmelberg

Cox is made to look better in a good team, with good players around him .....but he's slow, Himmelberg isn't

Might be why we’ve persisted with EH
Nah ....Elliot has always had a great footy IQ ....it's just been a case of how do we light a fire under him

In tight, he makes good decisions .....just needs to be involved a lot more in the game .....I think Nicks hit it on the head, when he said Himmelberg had to spend every day in the off-season in the gym, getting stronger

I was only being half serious. EH has the potential to be a dangerous forward, he needs to consistently bring it.

But I just don’t know how we will structure up forward this year, Fog, Tex, RT and EH is one too many, unless RT plays ruck for this year. Big call to do that to ROB though.

It'll be good for ROB to feel some heat .....Tex I can see being managed in some games .....but competition for spots is healthy

We sadly lack that same healthy competition in DEF

HH is a handy player at both ends of the ground but he will turn 28 during the ‘24 season… just sayin’..

Doedee will get us second round compo at best, not worth letting him go if he wants to stay
I think this is how I feel - at best, it's a band 3 compo, and we'd lose it anyway if we brought in a free agent.

But trying to fit Worrall, Max and Doedee in there will be pretty tricky.

Can be done as long as we play Dawson on the wing.

Parnell/Hamill Butts Doedee
Max Murray Milera

Worrell as seventh defender.

Smith will be 32 next year and he’s going to start to wind down. Reckon towards the twilight of his career he will make an excellent sub

We should be looking to rotate players.

Tex should be rested for about 25% of games.
ROB should be rested also during the season to keep him fresh & we can use the RT/EH ruck combo - pick which opposition ROB stuggles against.

We should get smarter like the Cats do who rotate around 28ish regular players with games off during the season - not just though need with injury.

That should have been the plan when we bottomed out to give the kids more game time. Kids like Worrel, Pedler and more time for Strachan.

It's not as if it's been underperforming senior players who have been selected ahead of them. Right now we have a list that is absolutely full of young kids, and only 22 positions available in the AFL team each week. There literally isn't enough room in the team, to select every kid who is in need of more game time.

LOL, NWM training with the defenders this preseason with the new coach.

Not sure we need another HBF/winger real bad.
So if he's made up his mind to come back to SA at the end of this season, you wouldn't even have us have a look at him?

I'd like to think he ends up as a mid. Got speed, good kick, good tackling and love for the contest. Only things I'm not sure about is what tank he'll end up with, but wouldn't be surprised if its good. Then the last thing is can he put a decent amount of muscle on his frame to have the strength to be in midfield.

Doubt very much he'll ever be a midfielder of note.
Half back/wing is his spot.

Sure, of course you'd have a look depending on the collateral needed and it seems if Rachele was gone he might have been Hamish's target at some point.

Not sure contested footy is his forte either on what I've seen.

His very experienced new coach has him training as a half back incidentally.

Absolutely we would look at getting him back if we could.

Quality outside players also needed in a balanced side.

Given NWM was on our very shortlist to Draft ....it would mean, if available, we definitely would be in the hunt

That said .....unfortunately, that probably means Sholl leaves .....you can't have two of those very outside players, vying for the same position

If NWM is going to cost us a first plus, why wouldn't we just get Redman?
I'm sure we will weigh up all possible in/out list movements.

We should be keeping all options open to improve our list.

How did Ben Davis get selected?

It should have been the plan when we were at the top as well. Instead we flogged guys until they were likely at around 65% come finals.
It was as dumb then as it is now.
We never learn.
