Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Schache Just signed a new deal.
McDonald will play tomorrow.
They won’t be shopping them around.

As I said I’d be surprised if Melbourne wanted chol. He’s not a goodwin kind of player

I already said all of Schache, Brown and McDonald are out of contract next year and will be lucky to continue their careers beyond that. Even the guys playing in a final. A year is a very long time in footy.

All of those three, as with Taberner, will be seeking to extend their football lives beyond 2024 and Melbourne will see what they can get for them (as we will with Taberner) this year while they are in contract.

Schache signing a new deal.
Ratugolea being offered a mega contract.
Tabs being chased by Vic clubs.
Ben McKay being offered a gazillion dollars.

Wtf is going on?

I actually think the club will want to retain Tabs, with the age profile of our forwards he's worth more to us (even as depth) than we would get in a trade
That’s definitely the most likely scenario.

Mentally he might not have much left , the poor bastard has had 1 full season (2020) since 2017. Every other year has been decimated by injury

Keeping Taberner is a no brainer, I think the club would be silly to get rid of him at this point, he has a couple of years left maximum, let him go and dominate in the WAFL and if one of Treacy or Amiss get injured bring him up, he's handy depth.

Depends, when did he sign on? I can think of a lot of better things to do with 400k (his wage minus a rookie wage replacement) then pay Tabs to sit at Peel or play like max 10 games for us

The only problem with getting rid of Taberner is that we have no key forward depth if one of Treacy or Amiss goes down, Corbett isn't a key forward even if the club lists him as one, Kuek is injury prone and probably won't play next year, but that's about it for our stocks, I doubt a guy like Chol for example would be the same kind of depth that Taberner provides.

Chol is absolutely better depth than Tabs

Isn't our depth in that example: Joel Hamling, Josh Draper, Hugh Davies to swing Cox forward - even Liam Reidy?

Hawks are massively into Johnson so I can see why it's brought up

Latest I've heard is Johnson is pretty happy here and he is playing games now too

Hawks continue to sniff around though
Reading your post pisses me off knowing that Colon Young is Johnson's manager.

He mentioned before that he always has it in the back of his mind all the teams that snubbed him. Hope that fuels him to stay with us (even though we were probably the only team that snubbed him twice lol)

if whacky schache is getting a new deal than that just shows how desperate the dees are for talls... **** hes crap

He has shown to be capable at AFL level. Done well in the VFL this year rucking a bit and kicking 29 goals for the year. Good depth to have.
When has he ever been shown to be “capable” at AFL level?
He’s frankly one of the worst players I’ve ever seen playing AFL footy, especially when you take his high draft pick status into consideration.
Bulldogs fans I know could not wait to be rid of him

Man, you are often so harsh on Freo players but Wacky Schache is good depth? I’d legit rather Corbett

That's the line of thought I had too. If Richmond was chasing Tabs, I'd be even more open to the Chol move.

Chol is absolutely better depth than Tabs

I disagree with this. I watched Chol closely at AFL level this year and he was an absolute liability. The bloke turns the ball over when he gets the ball anywhere up the ground (like lazy handballs to a contest, kicks to noone and no follow up at all), he does not chase under any circumstances unless he's literally in the goalsquare and his opponent runs off and has an absolute field day every time he plays. His 2 goals a game are completely offset by the 5 goals the other team kicks from a scoring chain started by his opponent

Firstly, what do you think happens when Tabs doesnt have the ball? Secondly, an important part of being a depth player is being available...
