Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

If we’re serious about getting a decent return for Henry, then this should go to the last day of the trade period. We appear to have little other business to do, so I’d hope Belly tells the saints to come back when they’ve got something in the 15-20 range.

I’m imagining him sipping an almond decaf latte in some wanky Melbourne coffee shop on the final day of trading and SOS desperately trying to solve the mystery of where tf Belly is because he’s not answering his phone.

Don't agree in the slightest with this pre season draft talk.

We get nothing and similar to Luke Ball and Jack Martin, no other club would touch him except St Kilda. It's extremely rare for clubs to take players in the pre season draft who don't want to play for you.

Henry is a bit different to a desperate, play anywhere, not soft Jack Hannath. Club won't let it happen either

Said it a few times but the trade period is going to throw up some wacky results with how compromised the draft is. I'd want a draft pick in the mid 20s on draft night for Henry. I dont think that's being greedy and strangely seems to be generally agreed upon by Vic pundits therefore a pass mark is a pick around 20 in straight trade.

32 I might have understood in a normalish draft but even with a pick upgrade, that would be unacceptable for me this year.

I mean if no other club will touch him couldn't Freo just pick him back up again?

Ball is ancient history and twice the player (hence largely irrelevant) and Martin is not remotely comparable because he had $1m on his head of the first season and something like 600k over 5.

Nobody has reported Henry's wage but I think its fair to say its a long way off that.

Hawks ran 2nd and North were keen and then you add in we want to keep him and there is no way he gets to the Saints in the PSD. He might get there in the National Draft but even that would have risk and they'd have to use a decent pick to do it.

I normally agree however I'd effectively pay a pick around 40 come draft night to just tell Young (and Henry who we owe absolutely nothing at this stage) to **** off

It won't come to it, but I'll guarantee you if he goes to the PSD, he'll walk to the Saints with no issues

We're going to redraft a player who doesn't want to be here?

Don't think so
It's not like he's some Vic Metro kid (Cerra). This is a WA boy. Back yourselves to change his mind.

At any rate, I think there is no chance he gets past the Hawks and possibly North so it wouldn't happen.

Put me down as thinking we wouldnt redraft him but I think Hawks in particular would pounce. For someone like Henry in Vic, why would you not? Particularly if they were so supposedly so close
Exactly. Has to be a top 25 pick or enjoy the stress of going to the unknown. We can’t be bullied!! Crazy 🛎 please hear us.

Did anything of substance happen today?
