Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

How are Kozi and Henry best mates? I wouldn't have thought they had crossed paths much?

As usual the nimrod Ralph is making no sense. Melbourne want to lock Pickett away ASAP (i.e. mid-season), and their secret weapon is something that could only happen at the end of the season? Right.
Maybe AFL will go full ****** and announce a mid season trade period 5 weeks into the season. It sounds stupid buuuut......

Liam Henry lol.

This guy is delusional with no self awareness. Get a fu.cking kick first before acting like a superstar diva.

Kid seems to have jumped the shark but I'll withhold judgement until he's played a bit this year after a solid pre-season. Jury is still out.

Does van Rooyen make our best 22 better?

I think he will be better than Treacy and has the flexibility to play Back. I think Amiss and van Rooyen would be a formidable Forward combo I time.

I have been thinking maybe Amiss, van Rooyen, Johnson may have been a better combination of picks going back a couple of years ago. Having said that I'm excited to see what Erasmus can become.

Maybe is thinking Melbourne makes for a better oppo to sell his ties. [emoji14]
Kozzie would look good modelling 'em
It's classic Colin Young 101. What better, as a player manager, than to have your client's contract value tied not only to theirs', but also to the value of a highly prized potential poaching target.

This could be huge for Colin. Could put him right back in the dying seconds of this season‘s trade period.

I’m just hoping for a big season for Liam where he can lockdown a B22 spot in the team. Will be interesting to see who re-signs first out of him & Kozi.

We already have Treacy, and we likely see Erasmus as having the potential to provide what Fyfe gave us in the midfield.

For me, I'm liking the decisions we made.

Just for laughs regarding Erasmus, WC could potentially offer their first pick coming up for him. Van Rooyen???

Melbourne would absolutely spew if they lost their two most likeable and promising young players to us (Jackson and Kosi) and what a coup it would be.. Kosi would complete us.
We aren’t in a position to snag a top 10 KPF next year anyway, or even a top 20. That’s where trading works in our favour, with future picks and the like.. Hopefully we find Henry’s best position this year, which, to me, has been one of the issues re his place in b22

Pickett is overrated IMO.

He had one amazing year when Melbourne were unstoppable in 2021.

He didn’t look as good in 2022.

If we keep or lose Henry I’m not fussed. Keeping Treacy on the other hand is more important.
Are you kidding me, he kicked 41 goals last year...
I've been trying to tell y'all lets get on the Pickett wagon.

His main issue is getting the ball enough. (His physicality levels for his type of player and development you can live with). When he gets the ball his decision-making and delivery are right up there.

He looked just fine at the scratchy Friday. Got a bit of the ball. His work rate at providing options was excellent. Contested work fine. Stepped around Freddy adroitly, then gapped him as he accelerated away. Dodged and weaved through close confines of a pack, went on a dashing run for some metres, bombed the disposal a bit from there, but was probably a bit fatigued at that stage of the game.
That's awesome to hear!

Very weird. As much as I like Kosi, we’re no chance of getting him

It’s the Colin Young special.
If Henry can’t get a wing spot now that’s Acres is gone, then is he really good enough?
Brad Hill is of similar build, size. He uses his tank and skill to his advantage. Unfortunately here Henry is pushing for a contract that he has barely earnt yet.

exactly what has he done to get this sort of treatment? reading some journos headline that apparently we all take as gospel now

why do so many supporters jump to shit on henry at the first chance?

I've been trying to tell y'all lets get on the Pickett wagon.

Lachie Schultz kicked 30 goals, and had 19 goal assists.

Pickett had 41 goals and 8 goal assists.

Melbourne kicked 1936 points in the regular season. Fremantle kicked 1739 points, about 10% less score. Both teams conceded similar scores.

Yes Pickett is younger, but he’s no superstar. I’d rank him below Schultz as a small forward.

Henry has major tickets on himself and you could see it in his very first AFL game.

Rather he doesn’t see the light of our 22 and personally I don’t think he’s good enough to be.
Could you really? I think that's more perception than reality. He's probably got a bit of confidence in his own abilities, but you kinda want that in an AFL player.

What you do tend to hear from the club is that he's as much about others as himself eg Bob Murphy:

Referring to his character, Murphy praised the young Docker's connection to his teammates and those around him.
“There’s just something incredibly warm and charismatic about him,” he said.
“He’s one that’s won me over pretty quick.”
However, it’s not just off the field where Murphy has been impressed with the budding forward, tipping his work-ethic and diligence will pay off on-field.
“He trains hard, and he loves his club,” Murphy added.

Mb the question you should be asking is why are there so many tweets, stories and rumours about Henry potentially leaving.
The answer is Colin, over time all of his crap has left sour tastes in most freo supporters mouths. This has Colin written all over it, if Liam played at a higher more consistent level there would be nothing to talk about and Col would be hamstrung. He loves the divisive players.

It started before these rumors.
