Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Well this can't be true at all, I have it on vErY g0oD aUtHoriTy that Fyfe has already signed a long-term deal with multiple clubs!

Seriously, can't fathom the amount of shit talked about the poor bastard. I don't understand why people like dunking on him so much.
Does not surprise me at all that he has no interest in leaving.
Makes that Sumich article last week look pretty funny.

I'd leave Fyfe hanging until he shows he's still got some good footy left in him tbh.

Not sure sure he's quick enough to play as a non-KPF in the forward line tbh.

We were keen on Jessie at our pick after 21 but knew he would be gone as Carlton had one much earlier. With pick 22 we may of taken him, we were also into Josh Goater who went the pick after Johnno so who knows
My point was in an alternative universe that we already had Jordan Clark that we might not have traded up to pick 22.

Quick bit of research. We started with pick 27, which if held on to the draft was 29 (two spots after Carlton selected Motlop at 27).

During trade period we made the following trade with Collingwood:
27 and F3 > 22

There were a few players we were keen on at the start of second round Motlop was one but my understanding was plenty ahead incl. Johnson, Goater and Butler etc. However I agree it is possible that we do trade up ahead of Carlton to select Motlop.

Without the Collingwood trade we would have hit the draft with 19 (which became 21 - Matthew Johnson) and 27 (which became 29 - Samuel Banks).

Like to see him play some actual field football before signing him up. Love Fyfe but he has barely got on the park the last 3 years and when he has to me looked inhibited by broken down body. Not saying he can’t get this sorted as he looked good in the PS games especially the Adelaide loss.

I certainly never believed he would take a I’m not playing dummy spit stance. That sounds like Chinese whispers gone awol. Clear to me his foot was causing him trouble against Saints and he was showing his frustration during the game.

Inside trading is the best article that the AFL site does

Doesn't mean Fyfe is a lock but he is certainly only talking to us so far, it'll depend on how far the club and Fyfe are from each other in the end, possibly also whether he gets back on the field altho I suspect the two will go hand in hand

I'd be surprised if Fyfe comes back at all. I think his body is cooked and if he does manage to get back onto the field, I don't think it will be with any longevity or with the same output we would expect from him.

But I don't think he'll be going to another club either, retirement will come before that ever happens.

Sums up most of your posts on here of late.

You'd have to be a complete idiot to entertain that for half a second let alone parrot it as fact.
On Afl.com they are saying he is only in talks with Freo regarding an extension and has rejected approaches by other clubs

That is exactly what every player would say, he also had the choice of "waiting to talk contracts until I've gotten back and played some good football". Both mean absolutely nothing. The immediate example that jumps to mind is Nathan Wilson flat out ending discussion on his rumoured trade back to WA, but GWS were still in the finals, they lost, trade request went in.

I think the fact that Jason Dover has said talks had started positively means both parties are pretty confident an extension will get done. Certainly not the type on language Colin Young uses

We are clearly not going to be signing Fyfe on a 300k contract. It will be a Nic Nat esque 600-800k. They will be haggling about whether it is 1 or 2 years

The clubs being talked about for Fyfe were Brisbane, Saints, Dogs. Only really Brisbane would make any sort of sense. And it would be a wait and see on how both parties go this year.

Surely he has made enough money and contacts/sponsors/investments to be more than set for life? He should think long and hard about the quality of his life for the next 50 years and ask whether it is worth punishing his failing body any further. I'd be very tempted to retire and travel the world surfing if I was him.

David Mundy didn't get that sort of money.

I've also seen Nic Nat on video talking about how Nesbit will look after you post career so you don't need as much now.

Only way Fyfe is getting near 800k is if he walks to gc and they give him some kind of allowance

500k is more reasonable, hopefully upto 500k as a games based contract, Fyfe has had his mega star contract now and barely played for 3 years

Especially if he want's a shot at a premiership, he will need to he more humble so we can chase some forwards.

I have been told he is 100% done with the club and would rather not play another game here. Injury isn’t that bad. Will leave at years end.
Haha you are being made to look a fool - literally this morning the article comes out saying he's only talking to Freo, straight from his manager.

Everything a manager says prior to signing the paper is PR and spin. Everything the club says before signing the paper is PR and spin. Everything the player says before signing the paper is PR and spin.

Fyfe can sign his last contract in football this year, he should be making it as big as possible. It will be bigger outside of Fremantle.

Freo can offer him about $120,000 more than another club and have the same salary cap impact, that's our advantage.
