Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort said the Cardinals will listen to offers on the No. 3 overall pick.

They don't have quite the same leverage as the Bears do, but it's certainly possible that the Cardinals look to trade down. A team could leapfrog the QB-hungry Colts (if the Colts don't trade up themselves) and select someone in the event that the Bears keep the pick or that the top of the draft is into many of the top quarterbacks rather than just Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud. The Cardinals could potentially wind up with Jalen Carter or Will Anderson at No. 3 overall if they stay put.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said the team is not "philosophically opposed" to taking a running back in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Jones, the son of team owner Jerry, said a running back selection depends on which part of the first round. “If you’re taking a player in the top half, you’re hoping you’ve got a player who is going to be here for 10 years," he said in an interview at the NFL Combine. Adding a first-round back to a backfield with superstar Tony Pollard and highly-paid Ezekiel Elliott would be a curious move for Dallas. The Jones family loves their running backs though, and generational prospect Bijan Robinson could be too much to resist for Jerry and Stephen in the first round of the 2023 draft. Such a scenario would make the Cowboys backfield among the most indecipherable in recent fantasy history.

Still he’s getting fapped over for limited exposure like Mitch did.

That and completing less 54% of his passes are his biggest knocks.

Is he an athlete or a QB ? is another i am hearing.

He needs to sit for atleast a year maybe 2 to learn.

Does the Jalen Carter arrest warrant drop him down alot of boards and if that's the case will the bears still trade down with only one really good def player there in Anderson who might be gone if Cardinals dont trade down before they pick ?

Hes a highlight machine, unlike Mitch who was supposed to be a pocket passer. Richardson is more Justin Fields.

2023 NFL Draft: Is Anthony Richardson the next Josh Allen?

The days of facilitators at the quarterback position are over. If all your quarterback can do is operate a passing offense as it’s drawn on paper, you’re getting lapped. The new wave of elites at the position allow their offensive coordinators to expand their playbooks and, in turn, keep defensive coordinators awake late at night. To compete with them, you better do the same.

Enter one Anthony Richardson. The Florida quarterback whose prospect profile is closer to that of an NBA lottery pick than a top-10 NFL draft pick. With 455 dropbacks, 13 starts and a 53.9% career completion percentage to his name, Richardson is the single biggest quarterback project we’ve seen projected to be a first-rounder in recent memory. So why, then, is he the single hottest name heading into the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine?

One word: tools.

From his size (6-foot-4, 232 pounds) to his athleticism (just wait until he tests) to his rocket-launcher right arm, Richardson has very few peers from a physical standpoint in NFL history. That’s not hyperbole. Just watch:

The name you’ll almost certainly hear when Richardson’s name is brought up this spring is Josh Allen. That’s going to be the comp for any toolsy quarterback prospect with accuracy issues nowadays. Allen's Year 3 emergence from a haphazard gunslinger to a perennial MVP candidate changed a lot of people’s minds about what was possible with quarterback development. It’s important to understand what exactly about Allen’s game changed, though, before declaring every toolsy quarterback “the next Josh Allen.”

To answer that, let’s start with what didn’t change. And that’s the way he plays the game. Allen has always been fearless in the pocket and always kept his eyes downfield, even with defensive linemen bearing down on him. That’s an impossible skill to coach, and it was littered all over his tape at Wyoming:

It’s also a skill that’s necessary to translate to the NFL. With Richardson, you see that same level of fearlessness and ability to keep his eyes up when things break down. That's evident in Richardson’s average depth of target when under pressure going up (11.1 yards to 12.4) last season.

As a result, he earned a passing grade under pressure from the pocket that was the best of any of the other quarterbacks getting first-round hype.

QBPFF Passing GradeAttempts
Anthony Richardson6650
Bryce Young64.166
Will Levis59.385
C.J. Stroud37.146

Now that we’ve established the positives, let’s look at what was easily the most worrisome part of Allen’s tape at Wyoming and Richardson’s at Florida: accuracy. Anyone who’s followed Allen’s progression knows that his vast improvement in ball placement has come hand in hand with a vast improvement in his mechanics. Allen looked like a relief pitcher in college with an egregiously long stride and the mindset to put as much mustard as possible into every throw.

While Richardson already throws with touch better than Allen ever did at Wyoming, issues with overstriding and footwork, in general, are all over his tape. The consistency of his mechanics is nowhere near NFL-ready.

While that’s in no way a good thing for a prospect to have, Allen is proof that it’s fixable. The chances of Richardson having the same career path seem slim, but there’s a different NFL quarterback whose profile would make me feel confident drafting Richardson in the top 10.

That would be Justin Fields. This past season, Fields was — by almost any objective measure — one of the worst passers in the NFL. His PFF passing grade (54.4) was actually the lowest among starting quarterbacks. Yet, with arguably the worst offensive supporting cast in the NFL, the Chicago Bears still finished 22nd in expected points added per play. Fields elevated that offense almost solely through his dynamism as a ball carrier, as the Bears led the league in EPA per run (.076). They did so with the eighth-lowest-paid offensive line in the NFL. That’s a massive value add because of what Fields can do with his legs.

Richardson can be similarly effective on the ground while he grows into a more consistent passer. That makes him far less of a threat to be a “career-ender” for whichever general manager drafts him than his raw passing numbers might suggest. For all those reasons, the top-10 hype surrounding Richardson is more than justified.

I dont think it changes much, if Carter drops because of this it probably brings teams with later picks like the Titans/Commanders into the mix as a possibility for trading for the #1 pick now also. Bears might be happy to move back further than they would have.

Georgia DL Jalen Carter was issued an arrest warrant for racing and reckless driving.

The charges, both misdemeanors in the state of Georgia, stem from a drag racing incident in January. According to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, Carter was racing with Georgia recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy. LeCroy and Georgia offensive lineman Devin Willock were killed in a single-car accident that night. Carter was at the scene of the incident, left before police arrived, and later returned. Subsequent reports have alleged that he gave differing accounts of the events to the police. Carter was at the NFL scouting combine the morning of the warrant being issued. He left the combine and arrangements have been made for him to be turned in to the police. Carter later released a statement saying he expects to be "fully exonerated" once the facts of the case are known.

Whats funny is Trey Lance who Constantgin dick rides, currently has a completion % of 54% with all those weapons in SF... Surely if you hate Richardson you need to hate Lance :)

Lance hasn't worked out so far in nfl :cryv1: and for me he was much more ready than AR coming out with 66% completion 2900 yards 30 tds 1 int in his college career compared to 54% 3000 yards 24 tds 15 ints for AR. In the About same amount of starts.

If Lance is a bust which he so is so far with all those weapons and solid and stable coaching so i just don't know how good AR will be especially if he goes uber high. Talk of him going 1 which i think on film is just plain silly and the pressure to play him before his ready will be immense.
For ever Josh Allen there is 5 guys that fail i think AR is one of the 5 i hate to say.

Lance so far has been a huge mistake for 49ers with trade up (no high picks for years) then his performance on field i am worried any team that trades up and drafts AR will feel the same i do about lance.

If i could go back i would tell the 49ers to stay put no trade up for qb ride jimmy g and draft best avaible OL or pass rusher at that point.

I would love to be proven wrong about Richardson

Lance can't stay healthy, that's the main problem, not his completion %. He also played against far easier competition in college than Richardson did so his completion % there is somewhat skewed.

My thinking is like the PFF article mentions, Richardson won't be a bust because of the rushing upside. At worst he's going to be a Justin Fields in the NFL, terrible from the pocket but the offense can still be effective cause of what he can do on the ground, he's special running the ball... If he hits though, it will be incredible. (Also like the PFF article mentions the chance of him becoming a Josh Allen is slim but it's a possibility, you can't say that about many QBs) . He needs to work on his footwork big time, but he has all the tools and can make big time throws. Just needs to work on the fundamentals. If he's got a strong work ethic and a team is patient he could be very good imo.

Wtf is wrong with these idiots. Got absolutely everything in front of them and they can't behave. The mind boggles.

He knows he'd run a 4.7+ thats why.

Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba told reporters he would participate in every drill but the 40-yard dash at the 2023 NFL Combine.

He told reporters he was 100 percent healthy after dealing with a hamstring issue throughout the 2022 season. Smith-Njigba said he has felt that way for two to three weeks but did not think he got enough practice running the 40-yard dash to partake in the event this weekend. He then said he would get a 40 time on the books at Ohio State's pro day. Smith-Njigba was never expected to post a great 40 time. Speed isn't his game, and his decision to opt out of the event all but confirms he was getting times that would hurt his draft stock during prep for the combine. Given how friendly the timers at pro days tend to be, we'll take his 40-yard dash with a grain of salt when he records it in a few weeks.
