Delist bonar and mahoney gives us 7 senior spots. Then we get biggy and Pink which leaves us with 5 senior list spots. Guess it'll then depend on what other targets we may have

Likely that we keep at least 2 of Bonar, Mahoney and Turner. This is where we sit currently (without delisting these three) with my thoughts on drafting:

Retired: 3
Delisted: 4
Traded: 2

Traded in: 2
Expected ins: 2 (Big/Pink)

List spots open: 5

Draft: 4
Open Spot: 1

Can we please stop suggesting that we will pick up Curtin with 2 or 3. It ain't happening.

He is 6 or 7 at best and that is the only consideration for Eagles to trade with Melbourne.

They need to weigh up to trade with us, and they get the best midfielder McKercher after we take HR, or do they trade with Melbourne and get Curtin at six and have a few other picks in the 1st round.

Gut feel is they need HR or Mckercher more than Curtin who has Watts/Schache feel about him.

The fact that Simpson and HR are yet to speak is pretty telling of West Coasts intentions. Harley confirmed this during his SEN interview and they have since published an article quoting him on this.

Well either that or the Eagles are going about things in an unprofessional manner.

It isn't that uncommon.

Pick 3 will become pick 4 and he is rated 6th best. It aint that much of a reach.

Highly skilled juniors I would imagine would need fewer resources than plodders, potatoes and players with no drive to improve themselves. You can't just have kids, it is why we bring in guys like Logue, Fisher, Stephens, etc because our senior group was severely lacking.
Notwithstanding the fact that a talented top-end kid needs the same amount of off-field support as a kid who needs to be taught how to kick, I guess it's true that Harry Sheezel occupied much less of Boomer and Gavin Brown's time this year, given that he was being coached by a line coach in the senior team.

The biggest issue l see here is: people dont know how many picks Brady wants to take to the Draft..

If he wants 3 then we go after Pick#1. > #2, #15, #17, #18 could be used which is way overs but would get it and end up with 1,2,3

If he wants 4 then we go after Geelongs or GWS 1st pick offer 2 of > #15, #17, #18 end up with 2,3,8 and the 1 remaining pick or

We could even go after GWS with the remaining pick and end up with 2,3,7,8 plus Haynes

If he wants 5 then he puts up the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign..

l'm more liking the 2,3,7,and 8 option...
why not convert some for next year and use it to bring in a 'big fish'?

All of a sudden we are questioning if 5 kids in one draft is too many? Really?
Starting last year brought in 8, 5, 7, 6, 7...

Same number of draftees, only this year all first rounders.

Would think development staff have an easier time developing pick 19 over pick 63 and rookies.

Probably waiting for the Trade period to end... they want to see if they get a godfather offer

Converting to futures is an unreliable deal as you dont know what you will end up with..l would feel better concentrating on this years draft and tackle next years trading when it happens..l think we still have all our future picks at the moment so we have a good start for next year..

I know it will probably get shut down, but if we are desperate for pick one, do we consider trading two and three for pick one and West Coast future first rounder - realistically it would be more of a future pick swap? And maybe find a way to get another top ten

Are we able to place Logue on the LTI list in lets say January and bring in somebody to fill his spot or does he need to be out for the year for that to happen?

Sooky Scotts. "We and I have personally put so much in Ratugolea that we don't want to give him up". GWS didn't put anything into Cameron, same Danger and Crows and all the other players you poached.
Scott will not want Ratugolea to go into the pre season draft...If WC didn't get him we would and then Geelong would get nothing except egg on their face...

Teams still working on pick packages to move up in draft

By Peter Ryan

Hawthorn still eyeing off West Coast’s No.1 pick and working out what package might attract the Eagles, which means there is no rush to get the deal for Tyler Brockman completed as he might be an additional piece along with pick No.4 and other potential picks that could turn their heads.

North Melbourne are also in the hunt but won’t be parting with both picks 2 and 3 to get at pick 1 although they might eventually include one pick.

They are certain they will take at least two of the first three picks to this year’s national draft, much to the annoyance of clubs upset about the assistance the Kangaroos received.

North Melbourne are likely to see whether picks 15, 17 and 18 tempt a club with a higher pick.

Melbourne now have picks 6 and 11 and always attempt to get up the draft order.

Meanwhile, West Coast are yet to fully open the door on trading pick 1.
Get ready for this to be quoted ad nauseam in every article about us for the next year at least:

"much to the annoyance of clubs upset about the assistance the Kangaroos received"

FFS, it's like we are the first club to receive an assistance package
