But the manager for Zane, David Trotter, told AFL Trade Radio on Thursday he doesn’t believe Zane will still be available past pick three or pick five depending on who eventually holds those selections.

“I said to Adrian [Dodoro, Essendon] ‘How good are you?’ - if they manage to get up there I would be shocked,” Trotter told AFL Trade Radio on Thursday.

“I think he will be gone early. If North has pick two or three, I think there is a fair good chance [Zane is selected] but teams don’t do that any more [make guarantees] but I don’t think he slips past four or five.

“He’s inside that pick three to five range.”
Big Game Zane.

That is all.

Twomey on Gettable said if WC are wanting to trade with North, then pick 2 OR 3 along with the two teens picks is a possible scenario. Mentioned that it could be pick 3 as they can still get Curtin there.

We would take Reid and Son of Kerch in that case eh?..

I call BS…. If the bottom placed team had any intentions to draft the top rated kid the coach would have met with the kid and his parents by now.

Imagine Harley can’t be taking WC seriously if there not going to at least send Simpson to meet him and family.

Call bluff on WC there not considering him at all.

We didn't meet JHF until really late in the piece and don't think Clarkson met anyone before we traded out pick 1. If West Coast hold pick 1 at the end of the trade period, I am sure he will meet with Reid.

Can somebody please make sense of the possibility of picking Duursma for me? If we hold picks 2 and 3,my ideal choices would be McKercher and Watson. At least Watson has the ability to apply that forward pressure we desperately lack, plays in a position of need for us and is just as much of a game breaker (imo) than Duursma is, if not more so.

Add to the fact we have Taz, Zurhaar, Sheezel, PC, Ford AND Brayden George that can play in his position and I just can't make any sense of it. Can somebody please explain?? I know he's talented but that can't just be it. Am I missing something?

Didn't we meet JHF during Trade week though?

Draft is a month away so they have ample time to meet and evaluate, plus with live trading they can decide right up till the pick.

I'm with ya, have always thought Dursma was not for us, but watch his vids again, could easily slide into that half back role, ala Sheezel.....he has serious hops and wheels to burn as well.
I fele like I've overlooked him somewhat......got Burgoyne written all over him

FRONT-ENDED DEAL BOOM

CLUBS are expected to front-end deals next year to make their minimum cap spend after being reminded this week they will need to hit the 95 per cent level for next year's payments after the rise of salaries.

The players' new Collective Bargaining Agreement will see a backpay for players for the 2023 season and a rise again in 2024 through to the end of the deal in 2027.

It will see a number of bottom clubs with salary cap space be ready to bring forward some of their heavier contracts to front-end the payments so they can hit the 95 per cent minimum spend of the cap under AFL rules.

Clubs were reminded of the TPP compliance with the new CBA at a pre-Trade Period meeting on Monday at Marvel Stadium.

The rise in player spending money will also see clubs be even more dangerous on the trading front next year given the majority of this year's players up for grabs are middle-to-lower paid options. – Callum Twomey

little bit of smoking mirrors going on. Walter/Reid/Curtin/Watson thats the top 4 and every other player is speculation at best.
I know you're not sold on Son of Kerch's skillset Duck, but gee his incredible pace coupled with a large tank would be a perfect fit with Wardlaw, LDU and now Fisher and Stephens.

His left peg doesn't look that bad on the run.

I don't think we can go wrong with two of Reid, Kerch, Duursma and Curtin..

Ok, I reckon we won't get Reid. I think Melbourne will.
Dees will trade 6, 11 and a Future first.
Dees get pick 1.

Think WC pretty confident Curtin will be at pick 6, which if you look at the order they'd be pretty right.
1.Reid - Dees
2.McKercher - NM
3.Dursma - NM
4.Watson - Hawks
5.Sanders - WB
6.Curtin -WC

Hawks and Dogs would almost be hoping we get Reid as it then puts Curtin in top 2 or 3, sliding Dursma and Watson down 1 pick to each of them respectively.

Question here is Dursma. Do we want Dursma or Curtin, because if we ain't taking Curtin at 3 the deal for pick 1 will be dead IMO
I wouldn't be too unhappy about the Dees making the trade for #1 because I'm very happy with what we've got, which is likely to be further improved. I don't think what the Dees have to offer is that great. Their future first is likely to be something like #15 before it slides after the FS, academy and potential compo picks. Picks 6, 11 and a 2024 #15ish isn't that great. If we offered #3 and #7 or 8, that would easily trump what the Dees have to offer. I'm hanging on to #2 no matter what.

You can never have enough flankers. :drunk:

That's because we were in lock down and wanted to meet him face to face and not by zoom.
