Who's playing forward then? Nick Solo?

You would think they try and go small to medium. Would require a an actual game plan and more movement. The pies only play the one big forward. We could also hope CcJ comes good but I just laughed as I typed that.

Sounds like we might go with a line up that is filled out with small to mediums?

I’m not a massive fan of CCJ but you would imagine they will persist with trying to make him and Larkey work, until it doesn’t.

Hopefully they look at someone like Sellers (Miocheck role) and play more of that hybrid forward line rather than the traditional 2 x talls.

But agree, there is some work to do, to make that forward line dangerous if Comben goes back.

You'd think Comben would swing as required. He'll be required back for sides like the Cats or Blues but surely think Corr, Pink and Dawson would be able to handle more mobile forward lines until Logue returns.

His fitness will get a fair workout though because I reckon he'll be used as that half back marking target link to wing on kickouts now Goldy is gone.

it already doesnt, ccj is like a statue that just blocks larkeys leading options, and on the odd chance it comes to him he butchers it. sadly he is better in the ruck, and even then he is behind X which is a pretty modest bar height to say the least. personally i think greenwood actually rucks better atm than both of them.

yep good call.

Xerri and CCJ are both very average rucks and would argue Lycett is better than both and would improve us in that area.
Don't think Xerri will ever be good enough to be a first choice ruckman.

I suspect the biggest challenge will be that no-one else has Goldy's tank so with X as first ruck, someone needs to play significant minutes in the ruck while he rests. If we went with a forward line of Larkey plus some combination hybrid medium talls and smalls, then where does the chop out for X come from? You can't send your only tall defender into the ruck.

I am not even going to pretend I know who North is going to pick but after the draft gold we got last year, I have no problem with keeping pick 2 and 3. If we can get another Sheezel and Wardlaw combo this year, then the skies the limit.

However, the thought of getting Harley Reid in this draft is so appealing. And this is not because I know we will get a great player (as we will with pick 2 & 3) but because I know how much the opposition supporters will melt. They are already going bonkers on the priority picks we got, but can you imagine how wild they will get if we used the assistance package to nab Reid, who most supporters think is a clear number 1 pick? This is going to be so much fun waiting on the conclusion, as either way, we cannot lose.

I can’t see it working myself and agree with everything you have posted.

I just think they will give it another crack this year before totally giving up.

The CCJ trade is looking like a massive bust, but by some miracle he might come good? Stranger things have happened.
