I definitely don’t like them. They are going the all in strategy. I hope it fails.
I hope Yartapuulti fall flat on their face as well. They've been dipping into the futures bank for a while now and at some point that is going to blow up into their face. When that happens they could be forced to trade out good players to get hold of decent draft picks, which could happen as early as next year if the mediocre players they have just brought in don't make much of a difference. Yartapuulti won a lot of games by very small margins this year to boost there position on the ladder and they were subsequently exposed in the finals. There is no guarantee they will win all the close ones next year, which could see them towards the bottom end of the eight. Maybe that is just wishful thinking because I hate the MFs.

Last year Rawlings stuffed up the list numbers and we ended up having to dump picks. We can't afford to make that rookie mistake again.

At the moment we have four senior list spots and six picks.

If we plan on taking five players at the draft, we need at least six list spots to give ourselves some flexibility. This isn't good news for Bonar and Mahony, we really need to delist them both. If we wanted to keep one of them, we could also pay out or push back Lazarro.
picks get passed on all the time

Is Reid that far ahead of McKercher to make this a sensible deal?

I don’t think the Eagles want Reid at all and are trying to get us to panic and overpay here.

I’m not sure if we can get a hold of another early pick, that getting Reid outweighs having another top end talent on the list, especially with someone like Caddy filling a long term need.
If they wanted him that badly they wouldn't even be talking to us.

We've only got as many picks as we have list spots to take them to the draft. By my count, we started on 38 and have 8 out and 4 in.

But that's by draft time, there will be picks traded/reduced btw then and now.

Of course. But Rawlings has suggested we will take 5 at the draft. We still need to open up list spots to do this.

What would be better. Ried & Duursma, Reid & Watson, Duursma & MCkercher or Duursma & Watson ?

Safest: Reid and Mckercher

Highest ceiling: Reid and Duursma

What I would do/least likely to occur: Watson and Duursma

What I think we do: Mckercher and Duursma

We can't go wrong with any of them to be honest.

I'm sure either or both of jmah and bonar are on thin ice pending what we do with those teen picks

We have 32 on the senior list and 5 on the rookie list contracted

Have 7 spots to fill across both lists

Can do 36-8, 37-7 or 38-6

2 senior listed out of contract and 1 rookie

I reckon the 2 senior listed boys are in trouble, but there is room for 1 to survive

If they're not contracted, they're not on the list. If we take 5, they best they can hope for is to be rookied.

They stay on the list until, I think, October 31. We need to decide whether to re-sign or delist before then. Assuming we delist them and take five at the draft, it would leave two rookie spots free for them or Turner or others.

That's the same numbers I've got. If one of them survives I think it would be as a rookie. I don't want to see us committed to maxing out the primary list before the draft starts.

Rawlings didnt stuff up the numbers.

We got the dregs as part of the JHF trade. They had some value so Rawlings did his best to swap them for futures.

It's probably been mentioned somewhere here on BF but if we recruited Soldo surely he would be our no 1 ruckman? Richmond didn't get much for him either.
Decent 2nd rucks go for cheap every year, thats why i cant see why we always have 2 project ruckmen clogging the list every year??

Didnt Brady say that we currently have 5 list spots to pick players...Surely that would not include Turner, Mahoney and Bonar because they officially have not been delisted yet..
