What it's got to do with this thread? Everything!
We need to nail this draft and start moving up next year and not be content with finishing bottom 2 again because like a lot of posters, whether it's their kids or new Australians, it's hard supporting and attracting to a team that has been bottom 2 in 3 years and been easy targets for media to ridicule.
Being a Gen Xer, l've seen many great North teams and players but it is these Gen Zed's are the ones to carry the support base forward and more than every, social media plays a massive part in attracting interest which l commended the NMFC media team on this front!!
Whoever we pick in this draft, will be players that this generation will look forward too because they don't know whats it's like to remember the watching a young Carey playing U18's in the late 80s through to being a proper generational player of the 90's.
thats great now lets focus on how to improve said list outside the draft atm

which currently is now only through DFA for the next week

then focus shifts over to the draft thread and the 2024 version of this thread

We've got two North, three Richmond, two Blues and 1 each of Pies, Bombers and Hawks. An abnormal amount of our sales reps are North though.
Then why aren't there more training reports when your Sales Reps have scheduled 'meetings with a client'?

I live in rugby league country. **** all AFL supporters around here. At least 20 of them support North. (That includes one family of 11 or 12 members across 3 generations. tho I'm assuming the youngest kids do cos they are all under five and being brainwashed.)

I had that living in Wagga Wagga as a kid in the early 90's, before I was ever really into AFL... my first real exposure was definitely other kids that supported North (and my dad's boss was close with Paul Kelly and he was a top shelf bloke).

Is this what you think?

I notice on the trade board an * supporter is touring inside word that a deal has been agreed on.

If you do believe this, what do you think the deal is?
Cue the WC nuffies "TOOOOO---NNNN--FRRRREEEEEEE!" "TOOOOO---NNNN--FRRRREEEEEEE!" "TOOOOO---NNNN--FRRRREEEEEEE!"

I think you'd have to be 11 to believe one unproven player is the answer to all our problems
1. Not what I said. I don't think Harley Reid is the Messiah, just the best player available in the draft. Call me crazy for wanting the best available players.

2. Calling juniors with great form at the highest level unproven is ignorant. Would we be better off redrafting delisted players who have proven they can be substandard at the top level?

Unproven players like Sheezel, Ashcroft and Daicos are lUCKy dIp.

Kids just want to fit in. That’s the bit that makes it tough for them. It’s alright when we are all older and can tell them all to jam it. When I was a kid I was the only North supporter in the entire school let alone year level haha. Which is why we are so bloody minded now. Support your kids Dads. Let them have a rest for a bit if they want from supporting but an absolute ban on buying any other teams gear ! Patience is a bloody virtue.
When I was a kid I was literally the only football supporter in a school of 1200 kids and copped it regularly.

Now that was lonely.

Ask the coach and players what their thoughts are on winning the last game and missing out on Ried Nothing like winning regardless of the short term cost for the bigger picture and future winning culture.

I was torn at the time but I'm at peace with winning that game. Looking at many sports docos and other sports rebuilds I think a winning culture is more important and deliberately tanking I think sets teams back years (Blues and Dees for example). Houston Rockets organisation wanted to lose and still look terrible whilst OKC has a competitive/winning edge to it. Obviously, there's a lottery in the NBA but I don't think they'd be too upset with Chet Holgrem instead of Paolo Banchero.

Note: I work in a deli

Does your deli sell any Llama products? I like deli llama :stern look

I'm sure it was a nice sugar hit. I don't think overrunning an undermanned GC in Tassie has got us any closer to a winning culture though.

It's all done now and good to break a losing streak but I don't agree with it being a boon for the club.

The benefit to this group of players of not lying down in that final game, and getting the win, will be significantly better than any perceived benefit from having pick one over pick two, because you have to factor in the playing group knowing as professional footballers that the coaches and/or club failed them. It would be a cancer in our club. You can't build culture by extorting effort all year, team first all year, and then asking them to lie down, or worse hobbling them deliberately. The wish we hadn't won is understandable, but the continued bleating that we didn't f*n tank is ridiculous.

I'm in the former group. I just can't stand the copes about how beating GC helped the club. I'm still livid about losing 20 in a row. There was disruptions this year and I knew we weren't leaving bottom four but it was still extremely disappointing and has somewhat tempered my expectations of this group in the future.

Five first round picks this year should help but we need to find more Sheezel types that will lead changes in our pathetic culture.

Well given the rumours of what we are prepared to pay for said unproven player then Clarko, Viney and Rawlings must all be 11.

I hope they have an appropriately qualified parent to provide them with the wisdom that...one unproven player is not the answer to our problems...but 5 first rounders is a nice start so don't go pissing them against the wall.

I recall exactly the same comments about 'benefit to the players...winning culture....' after we beat Brisbane in the final round of 2017 - and look how that worked out for both teams.

The reality is that the win against GC will count for nothing as soon as the new season starts. If the players needed that win to 'train harder' 'provide motivation' then we have the wrong players.

Yes.

And I've already somewhat stated it on this board and was dragged for it. We'll see if I was right but I have a feeling most fans aren't going to like it.
