I reckon theres starting to become enough smoke around West Coast wanting to land Curtin with their first pick.

They know we would take Reid with pick 1.

Id offer Pick 2 and Pick 15 for Pick 1 and steak knives.

We end up with Reid, the Compo pick for Mckay and potentially Sanders.

West Coast end up with Curtin and another first round pick to fast track their rebuild.

Can't see many losers here.

Or they just take Curtin at 1 and we take Reid at 2. Same result without us giving up another first rounder.

Let a Victorian club (us) take him, develop him for a couple of years while you (West Coast) get in his ear about how good family is. Maibaum’s stats don’t exactly jump off the page in the WAFL. 10 disposals per game and just under 3 marks. Doesn’t sound like the most inspiring selection.

Wouldn’t be a bad option as a stop gap, but I’d prefer Ethan Phillips from Port Melbourne who averages 8.5 marks per game.

They are equally un-athletic as one another.

Its really like neither of these. And fast pass saves you hours.

If your scouting says that there's a clear talent gap between pick 1 and 2 then you weigh that up.

Pretty simple I wouldve thought. They either take curtain at 1 or we take him at 2. Up to them really. Trading pick 1 down to a 4 or 5 to get curtain won't help them as we'll just take him at 2.

Personally I’d be inquiring about L.Ryan to have him thrown in the deal, he’d be a perfect mentor for our young smalls.
Realistically a f2 or f3 probably get it done in an open market, all we need to do now is get the bean counters out to figure out the points difference.

We're happy with pick 3, not sure what happens if we don't get that.

They might take Reid if its a decision between him and Curtin. We might prefer Reid. But they might take Curtin if they are also getting a late first round pick with him.
