Essendon secured first-round compensation for a three-year $750,000 deal for Joe Daniher in Brisbane, with the key forward then signing a two-year extension only a year later.

The AFL eventually ticked off that subsequent deal (which would have smoothed out the salary over five seasons), so surely there is a club that might follow a similar formula even as it skirts close to the league’s rules.
Just so, so typical.

Don’t worry about those spuds

Just focus on Baldwin, BZT and Marchbank if you want cheap KPD ready made

Baldwin has potential, but still has a long way to go to being an AFL level KPD.

Zerk-Thatcher just had 9 goals kicked on him by Hogan. He is undersized and he is terrible ball in hand. I really don’t rate him at all.

Ok but surely Melican gets the biggest key forward and Corr doesn't
Melican primarily plays the same role as Corr on the second/third kpf. Like Corr, only plays on the real big boys when there’s injuries and there’s no one else left to do the job.

Melican is only 193cm, shorter than Corr.

I'll have to take your word for it. Always thought I saw Melican on the gorillas, unlike Corr. Either way we ****ing need to fill that hole. Corr as a number one key backman makes me feel ill

He doesn't rate here because he only played 7 games in 2023, which means he doesn't meet the 15 1v1 minimum threshold. (his average has been 1.9 per game)

But from those 7 games, he has a lower 1v1 percentage loss rate than any of the key defenders of those players that appear above.

There isn't a great need for him in a backline that has Tom McCartin and obviously he has many limitations, but as an affordable stopper who can stop gorillas, at least until Logue gets back, and hopefully before our soon-to-be elite KPD draft recruit gets up to standard, he'd be okay for my money.

As I posted earlier, he plays like the exact role as Corr. He doesn’t regularly play on the primary gorillas.

I would rather Ethan Phillips. At least he intercepts and plays on the main kpf, albeit at vfl level.
