We need to go to WC and say that we will help them out by giving them our Pick#2 for their Pick #1 so we ,through the generosity of our heart, take Reid and they will be able to take Curtin without over thinking it which might give them a headache...It sounds better this way. Maybe even offer our current 2nd round pick for their F1....:laughv1:

I've long been of this opinion too. I think we have to give up Ports pick and 2 to get 1. May get something back our way in the later rounds but that way WCE wins and North wouldn't have any hesitation to get Reid.

Yeah, that way West Coast get another first rounder as well as their local bloke.

The Sanders things will be interesting - we get him and have to pay (most likely) we would prefer to use the Port pick trading up and try and pay for Sanders with points from later picks.

Sean Darcy (Fremantle)

“It has been doing the rounds that North Melbourne were working behind the scenes in an attempt to engineer what I would have thought would be the biggest coup of this year’s trade period.

“If they were to get Sean Darcy into Arden Street in contract it would hit all the right notes. It makes a lot of sense for North Melbourne, who could lose Todd Goldstein to Essendon, or elsewhere, or they might keep him.

“But no, it’s not happening, they’re not in that market at all, North Melbourne.

“Certainly Sean Darcy has some decisions to make prior to sorting out where he’s going to sign next year.”

Zac Fisher (Carlton)

“I think it’s highly likely (that he leaves).

“North Melbourne are prepared to offer a big contract for someone like Zac Fisher, maybe as long as five years which sounds extraordinary but that is the whisper doing the rounds.

“He will have some options.”

Dylan Stephens (Sydney)

“The no.5 pick in the 2019 draft who played in last year’s Grand Final has struggled for consistent opportunities.

“Has options to stay at Sydney, has option to leave. This is one for the end of the season but there is rumoured interest from the Kangaroos.”

Lewis Melican (Sydney)

“The fringe Sydney defender could be lured North Melbourne to bolster their key defence.”

Interesting that our interest dropped off for Darcy, or vice versa?

Setting the foundations for FA perhaps.

I've had a feeling the only reason why we haven't signed goldy is because of a ruck elsewhere coming over. I'd only entertain darcy or Grundy as a upgrade over goldy.

If we were to land darcy, xerri might as well pack his bags as well

I think the issue with our off-season recruiting strategy and the frustration we have with recruits from other teams, is that almost all of them come over for job security instead of genuinely wanting to be part of the team

That's all a bottom side has to offer. Won't be that way forever

Darcy is RFA next year. (Tim English too)

It wouldn't make sense for us to spend the capital on a tier 1 ruck this year, I reckon.

Please for the love of god, don’t sign Fisher on a long term deal. Repeating the mistakes of the past in signing up a passenger princess to a long term contract only for him to be a mediocre list clogger once he comes across.

Speaking of the free agent market... next years looks pretty good.

McCluggage
Brennan Cox
Darcy
Liberatore
English
Witts
Perryman
Battle
Cumming
Nankervis

Just gotta re-sign Zurhaar so we don't have to worry about diluting any compo.

Not sure I like it and we would somehow have to get the GC pick off them in a separate deal

Melbourne
In 1
Out 5, 15, 34, F 1st

WC
In 2, F 1st, 16, 34
Out 1, F 2nd 38

North
In 5, 15, F 2nd, 38
Out 2, 16
The Jesus christ that's horrible for us.

I'd be happy to give up next years first for Darcy.
Right age, right profile.
Just needs to get his body right

Free agent next year.

Has been linked to us multiple times now.

Could be a good fit but at the same time... ehhhh.

Exactly.

West Coast need too choose.

If they want Curtin, they either take him and forego the premium on 1, or they sell him to us and accept that due to the nature the market this year, they won't get a huge premium on 1.

That said, they are sensible traders and so are we, we have a good record of working together as per last year.

2 and the Port pick gets it done imo.

There has to be something in the 30s coming back to us in that deal.

I think we're really cooking up a delicious side with Sanders and McDonald in the best 22. Just need a re-motivated Mahony to add to it - we always look better with a Hungry Jack and there's no doubt he complements Tucker.
Stuart Dew likes this.

There also has to be a way for North to get Reid, WC to get Curtin and Melbourne to get F#cked.

Is it that time fo the year for the Hunter Clark trade posts?
