I really don't get this lol. If they want Curtain then they take him at 1. If they don't want to take Curtain at 1 then they take Reid there and North takes Curtain at 2. I suppose this all makes sense if North rates Reid as the number 1 and someone other than Curtain as 2, but is that actually accurate?
Your not reading it right.

They want Curtin, but want North to pay for the privilege of getting who they want LOL

I would be happy for the club to play chicken on this one, because even if they call our bluff and deal with Melbourne, we still get Curtin at 2 which is fine.

If anything they will be potentially ****ing over their own draft to get some extra scraps from Melbourne, instead of focusing on getting who they want.

I would prefer Watson + Schoenmaker over Curtin. I would trade pick 2 to land those two players, if that was an option.

McKercher, Watson, Sanders, Schoenmaker, Edwards would be a good draft.
Considering we most likely get Sanders, the last thing we need is another midfielder in McKercher when we already have LDU, Simpkin, Thomas, Wardlaw, Phillips and Powell that need time in the guts

They want Reid more than Curtin. If they’re going to be tempted to part with Reid it would need to include Curtin.

We need to start getting out of our heads they want Curtin more or equal to Reid because if we do end up making a trade some people are going to be blowing their brains out over nothing. I’m looking mainly at the Rawlings out crowd.

Is it that time fo the year for the Hunter Clark trade posts?

People need to stop listening to the media.

Our draft board reads:

  1. Harley Reid
  2. Daniel Curtin
Ideally if we were to give up pick 1 for a super trade than yes of course we'd like to have Curtin.

I also don't expect the Eagles to look at any trade for pick up until draft night.

Exactly.

West Coast need too choose.

If they want Curtin, they either take him and forego the premium on 1, or they sell him to us and accept that due to the nature the market this year, they won't get a huge premium on 1.

That said, they are sensible traders and so are we, we have a good record of working together as per last year.

2 and the Port pick gets it done imo.
I still think that's overs for a one spot upgrade, particularity if we are happy with either of Reid or Curtin. I think we offer 2 and 16 for 1 and 19 if they want their man.

Zac Fisher (Carlton)

“I think it’s highly likely (that he leaves).

“North Melbourne are prepared to offer a big contract for someone like Zac Fisher, maybe as long as five years which sounds extraordinary but that is the whisper doing the rounds.

“He will have some options.”
"for someone like Zac Fisher" ??? sounds made up.

There also has to be a way for North to get Reid, WC to get Curtin and Melbourne to get F#cked.

Maybe get GC's pick 4 with our future 1st. We are most likely going to bid on Watson with pick 2, I would imagine, so they will want to get rid of pick 4.

If we are allowed to match bids on Sanders we can just say **** it and go into deficit next year and pay him with chaff picks next year and not worry about finding the points this year. So trade out what we have that is of value and maybe bring in some chaff picks nobody else will use.

I can smell another mega trade in the works, I think we need to get rid of Port's pick, a Sanders nid will come early.

I can see us doing 2, Port's Pick and 38 for one and maybe chaff. Future 1st for 4th. Band 1 compo for McKay. It would give us 1, 3, 4 and Sanders and we are pretty much done for 2023 and 2024. Just bring in enough chaff to pay for Sanders in 2023 and 2024. Then target free agents next year.

They want Reid more than they want Curtin but are concerned with the go home factor.

What they need to get their heads around is that if they really want Curtin, they may need to take unders on Reid’s value to get who they want.

North aren’t going to pay full full freight if we want to get Reid, because we have what they want.

They need to make a call, take Reid or take unders for Reid if they want Curtin. They can’t expect to het Curtin on top of what other clubs may give up.

I'd be happy to give up next years first for Darcy.
Right age, right profile.
Just needs to get his body right

I’m glad you aren’t our list manager.

It’s a pretty big “just”

Just like Taylor Garner or Charlie Comben just needed to get their bodies right.

He’d be odds on at the moment to play less than 200 games imo. (I.e He’d be big odds of playing another 100)

His body is already cooked.

Wouldn’t trade anything under pick 20 for him

What go home factor?

My post was aimed at the people thinking we should just force West Coast to draft Curtin if they want him.

If we want a shot at a player like Reid we will trade fairly on it.

I also imagine they will back themselves in to hold Reid, there’s nothing tangible at all about Reid being potentially homesick, his public stance is the opposite. It’s a media driven narrative. We should have just as much fear with Curtin considering we’re once bitten in the last year.

We don’t hold a whip hand over the Eagles in this one, we do hold a whip hand over anyone else interested in trading for Reid, such as the Demons.

Exactly, Reid is a huge go home factor but Curtin isn't? Not all draftees are mummy boys, some actually just want to play footy.

We need good players and we should draft the best available players with our high draft picks.

This time last year people here were saying that we shouldn't draft Wardlaw because we have LDU, Simpkin, Phillips, Powell and JHF.

One of those left and the rest missed 30 games between them. Needs change. We're not drafting McKercher for next season.
