Shame about Peris, thought he looked like he was worth persisting with. Looks like we are going to be pretty brutal. Adams looked alright at times and looked worth persisting with. Bytel and Connolly not a surprise but sad for them.

Peris probably the only one surprising. Highmore not included is a bigger surprise for me.

Interesting with Adams being delisted - while he wasn't close to getting a game, it would heighten the need to find another KPD if we do trade Howard.

Highmore at least is in the best few players every week, looks like he'd play regular footy at some clubs.

Hopefully means we have some confidence in Van Es too.

Honestly think Adams was close to having his papers stamped when he got done drink driving in the first couple months.

He was a tackle defensive pressure machine….

And let’s be honest. Absolutely **** all else.

And I’m not saying it as a shot at him. But I look at the lists of the clubs still playing and they have a lot more genuine footballers then we do

He seems like someone that’ll get a lifeline from someone so we can continue it with another club.

Probably goes back to the VFL and tries for a lifeline. Can't see him going again with another side. If you can't get a run at the Saints there aren't many other clubs with huge holes in the midfield.

600k average by 2027 under the new CBA agreed in principle
How much do AFL players make a year?

The average was $406,000; up from $372,224 in 2021 and $259,651 during the first year of the global pandemic. Only 10 players earned less than $100,000 last year, while at the top end, three players were paid at least $1.2 million. There were 12 players above the $1 million mark, up from just five the previous year.

10. Connor O'Sullivan (10)
Murray Bushrangers/Vic Country
DEF/FWD, 198cm, 92kg
Talent League: 9 games, 20.4 disposals, 7.0 marks

O'Sullivan is an assured key defender that combines stout defensive work with intercepting ability and a want for the football in his hands. He's a mature body and plays with a country physicality, setting the tone and winning carnival MVP for the Allies. O'Sullivan has spent time up forward and even on-ball in short bursts, but will be drafted as a reliable backman.

12. Ollie Murphy (13)
Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro
DEF, 200cm, 85kg
Talent League: 6 games, 9.7 disposals, 4.2 marks

Murphy's competitiveness and reading of the ball has been a revelation after spending time forward and on a wing in previous seasons. He spoils more than intercepts and doesn't get involved in transition out of defence, but his positioning, reading of the play and closing speed on the lead make for a really solid foundation as a key defender.

14. Arie Schoenmaker (15)
Tasmania Devils/Allies
DEF/MID, 194cm, 89kg
Talent League: 6 games, 26.5 disposals, 5.7 marks

Schoenmaker is one of the best kicks in the draft, effortlessly launching it 60 metres when he wheels onto his left foot out of defence. He has third tall size at either end of the ground, but his ability to find the ball in space and kickstart transition is invaluable for the Devils. Schoenmaker knows how good his ball use is - he averages six more kicks than any other player in the CTL.

I’m still looking at the list and thinking we could easily cut hard and take it to 10 departures with relative ease.

As it stands. We are 4 down with only 3 useable picks.

Hopefully the Giants/Suns cut some decent talent we can pick up too

Maybe another 1-2 Carlton rejects 😜

Seriously though, there are state league players closer to playing footy than some of our guys. Draft with high picks, back fill with some state leaguers. Guys like Greenwood, Fiorini, Matho etc that would walk into a spot way before any of our fringe guys.

Whilst Peris improved big time this year I don’t think he has enough tricks for a small forward role at AFL level. Quality pressure forward but he ain’t getting a game over Higgins, Butler, Gresh (if he stays) and potentially Henry if he plays forward Brutal call given his progression but I can’t see it coming back to bite us. I have weird feeling Bytel might though..

It’s probably right. But this is where it’s heading.

Great gig.

Insane money. Women and being worshipped by fans.

WTF was our assistance package during heavy expansion and the introduction of free agency. FMD!!!!!
Our worst patch was
2013, 5W
2014, 4W
2015, 6W
Then back up to 12W

North current streak:
2020, 3W
2021, 4W
2022, 2W
2023, 3W

They followed Melbourne and said if you’re gonna tank, do it properly.

Murphy sounds like another Dougal

I’m all for it.

Let’s be honest, it was frustrating at times looking at our list at points this year and thinking - so 10 senior blokes can’t be selected as they are injured and there is another 10 who probably just aren’t ready injured or just not very good.

We need some of everything to become the club we want.

How far back is our pick pushed though?
Gold Coast 2 extra picks and north compo,
These guys might be gone.

That's where the limitations of the amount of picks they can hold pre draft come in. They removed that rule during Covid because of the reduced list spots but I'm pretty sure they have brought it back. It allowed you to trade for extra picks once the draft has started but not hold extra beforehand.

If GC intend on matches bids at say pick 2, pick 10 and pick 17, they will still need picks that hold high amounts of points or they would be delisting 10 players. As an example, a bid at pick 2 with the 20% discount ends up being 2014 points which is roughly picks 26,29,34 and 65 with the draft pick calculator. Once you add in the next 2 bids, that's just too many picks to hold if they did it with only 2nd and 3rd rounders.
Ah got it.
