I think the thing for Coff is he probably feels he needs to and wants to play if he's going to revive his career.

With us right now there would be no guarantee he's in the best 22 come round 1 or though I'm sure there is a pathway back it might not be easy.

If there is a club that tells him, we will play you round 1 then I'm sure that's very tempting for him.

If Coffield stays then whose position does he take in the backline?

Surely Battle > Coffield
Wilkie > Coffield

At full strength I just don't see where he fits in.

Barrett: "Someone outside that list is going to be a Saints player."
Which player we haven't heard mentioned yet will be at the Saints?

You'd sort of hope so right? I mean RTB is a good coach but part of the attraction of getting him to the club is he brings credibility and there will be players out there that want to be coached by him.

He fights it out with for the sub role or last spot on the bench.

By the end of the year he could absolutely be back in our best 22

FB: Webster - Cordy - Wilkie
HB: Windhager- Battle - Sinclair
C: NWM - Steele - Wood
HF: Sharman - King - Hill
FF: Butler - Membrey* - Higgins
R: Marshall - Crouch - Owens
I: Henry - Ross - Phillipou - Stocker**
S: Coffield/Clark/Byrnes/Dow/Jones/Billings/Paton/DMac

*Could be Hammer, Hayes or Cordy depending our FB option/form etc

**Stocker last in/first out IMO. Sub list could easily take that spot.

I can’t imagine Brisbane could guarantee him a spot.

Andrews and Payne are locks. As is Starcevich and McKenna. So he’s competing with Wilmot, Coleman, Fletcher and Lohman?

I suppose they don’t have a pure nominated interceptor but I’d say there’s more scope with Sinclair going more midfield and Nas being a wingman for Coff to take up a role in the backline. Howard and Battle lock down, Wilkie 3rd, Webster/Paton/Stocker lock down, Coff intercept/distributor.

It’s his choice if it’s opportinty but I can’t see how it’s more open at Brissy than with us.

What didn’t stop Lethlean?

He bided his time til Finnis left of his own volition.

Finnis had just been appointed in Bains’ case.

I'm not sure Finnis left of his own volition but I could be wrong. I just don't see the love for some of our previous administrators who sold us down the garden path.

You say Bains did a great job of fixing our TPP, so why did we had to get a banker in to fix the TPP which he set up. He clearly made a meal of our top end draftings and seemed to push the idea of swapping high end draft picks for multiple lower picks.

He was instrumental in getting us games in New Zealand, which was not clearly not a success.

We are just finally emerging from the mistakes our our predecessors.

I'm clearly buoyant about our future.

He’s more likely to go to the bulldogs

That was an odd delisting…he’s no world beater but handy back up!

Was exactly the player we needed this year with Cordy essentially taking that FB spot by the end.

Wish we ran with Joyce/Howard/Wilkie as a combo more.

For the draft watchers.... Where is Sanders expected to go?

Not counting academy kids hes in the 5-8 range.

North aren't getting access which is nice.

They are gonna get pick 11 though and will probably trade that up to the Suns for pick 4 and take Sanders anyway.

So he should fall somewhere between 7-10 at the draft?

So Geelong/Essendon/Adelaide vicinity

He wouldn’t take Battle‘s place. I get what you’re saying though. It would have been good to see him play as the third tall defender getting the third tall forward. It seemed as though whenever he got a game he was having to play full back on a Jeremy Cameron. Pretty tough gig coming up from the VFL.

About there but, as I said, North are expected to get more picks as part of their assistance package from the AFL and will then look to trade up to pick 4 from the Suns.

Even if they trade 2 + 3 to the Eagles for pick 1 + 19 + change, I think they take Sanders with the left over pick.

otherwise it'll be -

WCE 1 - Reid
NM 2 - McKercher
NM 3 - Curtain
NM 4 - Sanders

And FMD they will be bottom 2 again next year while all these kids are developing ala GWS early days and they'll probably ask for even more!!

****ing insane..

Coff’s best chance is if Windhager or Sinclair go into the midfield full time or he gets Stockers spot on the bench. All of which is possible. If he has a good enough pre season I think they’d find a spot for him.

Coff would need to learn to defend. We can’t go into games with only one small defender that actually defends in the lineup.

It’s absolute garbage

They got rid of their massive backended contracts to prevent a SC scandal . Stevo probably the only one they were happy to ditch.

One of the greatest dumb arse moves ever, got Ned Guy in who was Treloar's manager to do list management and he ****ed up their salary cap. Lost Treloar in the fall out.

Is Webster going around again, I thought I'd heard he was considering hanging up the boots.

I reckon Wood could play Membreys high half forward role, help us connect from the back line.

It's hard to know where Coffield fits after missing so much footy, but the way the backline structures up they all tend to chop one another out.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like

Coffield Howard Wilkie
Henry Battle Sinclair
Nas Crouch Hill
Billings Wood Owens
Butler King Higgins

Marshall Steele Gresham

Bench from: Ross Windy Dow Clark Caminiti Sharman Phillipou

Pou is an exciting talent, but Billings offers about twice his output if he's fit.
