I think Sonsie was probably frustrated by not getting games at Richmond and while he's going to be sitting out there might be a chance to work on him and see if he's up for a fish start.

The club have been pretty coy on him RTB included I don't think they want to moz him but if you compared his stats to most if not all first year key forwards he'd have them all covered. And he's never even done an AFL pre-season.

Honestly I reckon he'd be one of the last players on the list we'd trade.
Especially as he just got a 3 year contract

Sonsie cried on draft night when his mate sitting in the same room got called ahead of him, didn’t really congratulate him on being drafted. Responds extremely poorly to some niggling in vfl. Was known for inconsistency during draft year for whatever reason and there is the fact he slid a mile for no apparent reason. This guy smells

There will be a few players wanting out and even if they are contracted.
Teams that being hammered in the media at the moment would have a few players thinking if they could be moved during the trade period.
A team like the Bombers would have a few players hoping they could move to a club that doesn't savage them as bad.
Merritt , McGrath , Parish would of heard all the promises from the club for years as they sacked coaches and staff and are most probably want to go to another club to get away from the clubs venomous culture.
I would be looking at there list closely to see who we could pick up on the cheap.
I guy like Nick Bryan is off contract and has shown he going to be a pretty good ruck / forward and he is still 21.

Another team is the Dogs , the word is Smith is being worked on by the Cats and there would be a few others wanting out I would expect.
Who could we snare from there that would a good pick up.
Bailey Smith a great fit for us..running machine & would get our female supporters up and about!!!

He's a classic bandwagoner

Happy to change his opinion at the drop of a hat to suit any winning agenda hardly ever admitting he was wrong
I enjoy listening to David King..remember form can fluctuate wildly during the season so his opinions ebb and flow accordingly!
He, Buckley, Gary Lyon and Gerard Healey talk sense!!

A couple of posters have talked about trading Phillipou which is ridiculous.

He has had a great season. Think back to some of the things he was doing at the start of the season. In his second game against the bulldogs. When he marked that ball just outside the 50. His first thought was to go back and have a shot which he converted with ease.

Ross has pointed out it has been unfair what has been asked off him through out the year. He had a form slump and looked off the pace. The club pointed out he was trying to do to much inbetween games and it seems they found the right balance as he has worked him self back into the season.

Which shows he has a lot of reliance, self motivation and determination to improve and get better.

Since then he has been more compatible though out games. His last month of football has been really impressive.

Over the past two weeks his cba numbers risen which indicates they back him in the middle and are priming him for next year.

From what I have seen he has no problem finding the ball. He gets from contest to contest and has a high iq to be in the right position. You just know he is doing the work off field to grow in this space.

He now stands up in tackles and gets the ball off, players are not breaking through his tackles as often.

Personality wise it is going to take a season or two for him to develop that killer mentality. He is so young and in general different every player in the afl.

It is also going to take a couple of pre seasons for him to build his body up that matches the way he moves. He strides across the ground more so than pushes into it for explosiveness.

He has a bag of tricks that are unique. His movement in traffic and you can see there are elite traits by disposal by hand and foot. We will see a few more Mark Of the Year contenders by the end of his career.

I am all in on Phillipou becoming a star of the competition. He has too much self confidence and drive to be great with the natural talent not to reach those heights.

On a side note, last week Cal Thomey was talking about the trade period and St Kilda players. At the end he mentioned ]Jack Steele.

It is probably nothing but a week or two before that Garry Lyon and Tim Watson were talking about *Bailey Smith and the trade to Geelong.

Part of the conversation was clubs and mangers using the media to push player movements.

When Cal mentioned Steele at the end and the dialog between him and the other host after that made me think was there something in that.

Would trading *ack Steele be a good move? That is a interesting one.

On on side he is one of our best players and our captain.

On the other side he would get us a good draft pick, we need to make space in our midfield for phillipou, owens. From what I have read
Ross is the voice and direction of our midfield. Does out game plan suit Steeles strengths and his body type.

If you could replace him with Insert players name whilst bringing in a first round draft pick or two do you pull the trigger?

The guy was 18 when he was drafted, he is going to be crucified for the rest of his life by that?

Caminiti reacts badly to niggling, does he smell? They are kids, they can be developed.

If you could replace him with Parish through free agency whilst bringing in a first round draft pick or two do you pull the trigger?

Saw Bailey Smith at the gym in St Kilda last week. If that's not evidence that we've locked him away for 5 years on minimum wage just because he loves the way we go about it then I don't know what is

Gresham seems to be playing better and better as the season goes on and I can't tell whether he's becoming more engaged and invested in playing foe the Saints or he's trying to improve his contract value for his next club.

Also Clarke had a good game and was named in the team of the week as the sub, but there were times where he looked like he moved super slow and it's taken me a couple of days to realise the thing we haven't seen from him all year is the ability to wall through traffic. He's never been fast, but his spacial awareness to move through traffic was always eye catching and that's not been there so much this year - will be interesting to see whether he can get that back within the next couple of games and whether that impacts his career at the club going forward.

I haven't seen it but anyone who uttered the words 'Phillipou' and 'Trade' in the same sentence has outed themselves as a dingbat of the highest order.

Got my fingers and toes crossed they implode and find themselves deep in debt again.

Now, now.

Never forget how humble they have been following their flag success, and how magnanimous they have been towards our club and its supporters. And how they never bring up the Riewoldt/Lake free kick although I know deep down it undoubtedly still burns for a few of them.

We must ensure we are as gracious to them as they have been to us, should they fall.

Hope they turn into a basket case and f::king fold

Haha probably the right response. I will change it to*Insert player name* to take Steeles spot.
People write some really stupid things - who in the world would trade your captain that only signed a long term contract not so long ago - Steele might not of had the best of years but I wouldn't bet he will have a bad one next year.
Also the people talking about trading Phillipou , King , Marshall and the likes must be on some good drugs.

I love the acquisition of an Irish kid.
We’re clearly trying to improve the list by any means necessary, and although he may take a couple of years to really find his feet, it helps us add an elite athletic profile for a bag of chips.
People will be calling for his delisting by the end of next season, even thought there will be no advantage to doing so.
