Why are people complaining about other players from other clubs

You do realise we have said publicly we want more draft picks .. we can’t go after top end talent with that mandate ..

We’ve also got specific needs to add depth too .. so got to find some value in the way of how we did with stocker ..

People saying wed rather keep coff .. how do we know we dont want to but he may want to leave ??

And we will have more spots on our list because after the delisting we’ve already made , people will leave for the picks we’ve said we want to try and obtain

All makes perfect sense to me

Regarding Coff I think people are just anxious we do something stupid and sell him for peanuts. I know I am. He's very talented.

We have 2 on the list already. Heath looks set to go for next year and we have one developing

I'm well aware of that. Was just an elaborate way of saying absolutely no bloody way should we get Lobb.

Yer that's fine and most people in here know that. But instead of recruiting pensioner Goldstein we just make do with 80% ruck time Roma and the likes of Hammer Hayes or Owens until then. Roma is more than capable

My fear is always if he goes down Injured .. did he play every game this year ? That’s pretty unusual

Don’t need backup to replace Romas ability If he’s out you can’t but at least someone who can half the ruck contests

Don't understand this Goldy talk. We have more than enough ruck options ATM.

Keep Campbell as emergency first ruck, play Heath as an occasional fwd/ruck for development purposes.

Hit the pre season/mid season draft for another ruck if we need a replacement to cover injury.

To improve from this year we need players that can go with Josh Kelly and Tom Green like players

Getting rid of say Clark/Billing’s for Philip isn’t anything to get excited about

So Dow Goldstein Philp is what we are talking, it’s bottom of the barrel stuff

Hoping SOS has learnt a bit more and not just going to bring in the rejects from his previous employment like he has done in the past

Time will tell, draft and trade period always fun

Philp was a high pick but checked his stats and a bit of footage. He looks terrible and very injury prone. He's the type you get to train over summer and if he's looking likely chuck him on the list last minute.

I’d think Zones gets another year for the leg speed if they think he can stay semi fit, will be depth. Heath will surely need a few years to developer physically

Or Stocker, or several others at other clubs that took players for FA. Nic Newman, Peter Wright, Acres even Setterfield who was one of SOS's GWS rejects.

I don't mind some smart sifting through others bins, but you don't want to become one of those hoarder houses with old fridges and bike scattered amongst the rubbish in knee high grass.

Can't see the appeal in Philp. Now if we could get Binns out of their bin, that's another story.

That was my whole point. Keep recruiting young players who have scope for growth or drafting talented kids. That's the only way out of mediocrity.
Not recruiting 36yo washed up ruckman or Travis Boak and some of the weird suggestions on here.

You need a bit of both and some luck. Carlton picking up Acres has been a big win for them. Hardly any cost and huge output and complements exactly what they needed to round out the list. A few of those little wins make a big difference. Melksham and Langdon were huge in getting Melbourne to a flag.

Taking geriatrics to top up when you aren't 5% off a flag is idiotic unless you want a leader or something that can't be found already on your list. Not sure either of those guys are.

100% agreed. We've given some absolute potato's 2 year deals or more the last 10 years. Let's hope the club don't decide now is the time to play funny buggers. Coffield is going to be bloody good if we can get him and keep him fit.

His stats look identical to Hills and he's eight years younger.

Comparing him to Gresham too. Henry is four years younger still on the improve as he hasn't hit the 50 game threshold. Gresham gets his goal a game average while Henry is a better ball user.

Late first is probably his correct value not that i would be giving that. We should deal with Melbourne to get their pick 24 to use for him.

I's think that he's worth a mid 20s pick.

Completely agree with all of that...
Mondyball picks are definitely needed. But God there have been some absolute spuds suggested in here. I think you might have even suggested one of the biggest ones hahaha

Like TDK as long as he's showing improvement in the VFL he'll stay listed for a while. Young rucks don't usually show much until mid 20s. He's looking okay with some stand out moments but still looks a bit of a way off. Sometimes playing them makes them step up though. Opportunity can create heroes.

Mondyball picks are definitely needed. But God there have been some absolute spuds suggested in here. I think you might have even suggested one of the biggest ones hahaha

Not sure which one you mean but put plenty up for you. A lot of people don't watch the VFL to see who's performing that aren't making seniors. There is heaps of talent out there. There are heaps of players that would walk into other's best 22s in the seconds. They get written off if they can break in but heaps come from nowhere and make impacts when they move.

Unless the club know something about his potential to recover from injury. Just because we've been stupid in the past shouldn't mean it's a model for the future. 1 with triggers sounds right unless they think he's just been unlucky.

I do watch a bit of VFL.. I also talk to my mate who is one of the best VFL players and ask him about oppo players and which ones he thinks are good enough to make it. He gives quiet a lot of good feedback...

I'm not getting narky, just answering your post. Matho would be good at the Saints. Can spread run and win his own ball. I think he's exactly the type Ross likes. I think he's pretty happy up north though anyway. Seems to enjoy life up there. He's not going to be our best player but he'd certainly help our lack of midfield depth.
