Fixture 2024 Fixture

A tough last 5 games. We only have 1 x 5 day break in first 15 rounds and the new CBA allows for upto 3. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a 5 day break and one or two 6 day break in this series of games.

R20 Carlton v Port Adelaide | Marvel Stadium

R21 Port Adelaide v Sydney | Adelaide Oval

R22 Melbourne v Port Adelaide | MCG

R23 Port Adelaide v Adelaide | Adelaide Oval

R24 Fremantle v Port Adelaide | Optus Stadium

Avoided double ups against Brisbane and Collingwood.
Avoided playing Brisbane in Brisbane.
First 5 games all very winnable.
2 Big Friday night fixtures at home.
Standalone showdown.
2 games at the G against top line oppo.

A lot of positives.

The double ups are tough. Carlton, Melb, Adel in particular. Freo away is tricky. However none are really un-winnable. Probably expect we might lose 3-4 of our 12 double ups. Just need to start beating the Crows and not just rolling over to them every time we play.

Feels like there's a 14-16 win season there, to be honest though, if we get off to a hot start who knows, it could be more. All of which is inconsequential though until we reach the finals and deliver on the big stage. Must finish top 2 this year.

AFL doing all it can to ensure no pressure on Hinkley. Should be on the positive side of the ledger until such time as it starts to matter, but by then it'll be too late as he'll already have another year or two added to his tenure.

Finding it hard to get excited about it TBH. I hope by March that's changed.

The start is quite generous, we probably start favourite in our first 5. Need to hit the ground running and bank some wins early.

The following 9 games include Collingwood away, Adelaide away, Geelong away, Carlton, GWS away and Brisbane. That's a bloody tough stretch that will define our season.

All up it looks a much easier fixture than the previous two seasons.

Playing the Camries in a standalone thursday night national beamer.. Daddy lives for these occasions.

Why do teams need a bye after playing two games?
Because of the obsession with the northern markets with only 1 NRL game in Sydney and 0 in Brisbane that weekend and "Opening Round" having 2 games in Qld and 2 in Sydney, before Rd 1 games. So those 8 teams that play in that round get byes - 2 teams at a time over Rds 2,3,5 and 6 as everyone participates in Rd 4 Gather Round.

Two baddies - Collingwood @ MCG & Geelong at the Cattery. Perhaps the Giants at the Showgrounds (be careful about the cow poo). Only one game at an “exotic“ venue - Blundstone Arena, Hobart. We play that well. Double ups are what you could expect.
overall OK.
Not having to play Sydney and brisbane away is handy.

Games played against...

Top eight:
10
Top four: 5
Bottom 10: 13
Bottom four: 4
Who they play twice: Adelaide Crows, Carlton, Fremantle, Melbourne, Richmond, St Kilda
Bye weeks: Opening Round, Round 13
Average percentage of double-up opponents: 108.9% (second-hardest)

Analysis: One of the toughest fixtures in terms of opponents, with two meetings against each of Adelaide, Melbourne and Carlton. The Power are also fixtured to play in every Australian state, while they have a four-game stretch against Carlton, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide near the end of the season. But they won’t have to travel too much early in the year, with six of their first eight games to be at Adelaide Oval thanks to Gather Round and a home Crows Showdown. They’ve also got five primetime matches across the first 15 rounds. A mixed bag but it’ll be harder to make the top four with this fixture than it was with last year’s, when they were coming off an 11th-place finish.

Grade: C-

followed by a final/finals loss

Good double up against Melbourne, I think they will be bottom half of the 8 next year. I rate Carlton and think they'll be top 4 so that might be tough. The rest we should win the double ups including showdowns IMO.

We'll see as I'm consistently wrong with my predictions 🤣
