Saints would need to give this years and next years first. Surely they’ll wait until they can get him for free next year.

North overpay for Battle. Saints get first tier compo pick. Saints trade the compo pick plus whatever else for LDU. North draft another mid who will probably end up leaving in 3 years to join Tassie.

Interesting from the cats board?
Thinking about this again... It'd probably be Hustwaite, right?

Struggling to get a go in our midfield at present given the availability of those ahead of him. A return to form of the midfield group in the last few weeks means he could be at VFL for a while yet. Certainly the rest of May given he was out concussed this week and Box Hill have the bye next week.

Everyone knows this kid has potential though. Cats would love to add a big mid who can win clearances and rest forward as a tall marking option.

If he is the one they're sniffing around then I think it could be something the club looks at. He is contracted until end of 2026 anyway so all the negotiating leverage sits with us. And with only picks 4 and 31 in our hand for this year there is certainly motivation for us to explore ways to bring in additional picks to get other deals done.

Saints thought they would make finals this year and then be even better next year so offered North two first rounders for LDU, North thrilled and said yes but have to convince LDU who would prefer not to play for a Marvel team due to his injury history.

Also now that Saints won’t play finals you would doubt they would want to offer this years first round pick if it remains around the top few picks.

Geelong are all in for Bailey Scott.

They also offered Tarryn Thomas $2 mill over 4 years so Chirs could beat Brad to his signature but recent events will see Tarryn ruled out for next year.

I feel like Geelong is one of the few clubs that would somehow manage to escape immense scrutiny over picking up Thomas, which absolutely disgusts me.

So a club has agreed on a deal in May before talking to the player? Yeah I smell bullshit

Scott is a decent enough player, and would most likely take that next step in his development playing for Geelong. Is he a FA or would they have to trade for him?

OOC. North would want Geelong’s 1st and/or a best 22 player.

With Bailey Smith coming into the midfield next season, who makes way? What would the starting 6 be?

Day (22), B Smith (23), D'Ambrosio (20)
Meek (26), Newcomber (22), Worpel (25)

Depth: Macdonald, Nash, Mackenzie, Ward,

A lot to get excited about. Sam is building a team which will peak and flourish together for a long period of time.

Little aside but who are the listed Hawks who grew up supporting them?

Ginni, Moore, Scrimshaw, Mackenzie, Newcombe, Ward (?), Maginess, Reeeves. Im sure there are more?

Add Battle and Baz to that list and thy are building a good list of loyal players.

Jarman Impey was a Hawthorn supporter as a kid. Believe Blanck was as well

Ward, yes. Dear, Ramma.

Don't think Reeves was?

Still reckon Isaac Cummings from GWS should be on our watch list. Fast, skilled, good size (188cm) and can play hbf and wing at a high level. Has had injury issues this year. A FA so only costs salary.

Agree about 25 in age also so in that age group that we really don’t have many players in.

Not uncommon.

We agreed to trade value for Wingard with Giants, then told Giants they could talk to Chad. Chad said “no thanks”.
