I see a lot of predictions here ranking the Cats in the 10th-14th range. Whilst, this is obviously wishful thinking by opposition supporters, I actually think it's the last thing you want. It's better for you all for us to finish 5th-7th (where I think we'll be) so that we both simultaneously aren't a contender and also don't get a quality pick.
I can absolutely see you finishing in the 8, but that goes for almost every team.

How on earth is us thinking Geelong will finish between 10th and 14th wishful thinking? You finished 12th this year.

What an odd comment

The difference between 5th and 14th this year was 3.5 games. If the OP asked "predict how many wins" and someone put 10 instead of 13, then you wouldn't call that "wishful thinking" would you?

I think a lot hangs on which clubs sort out their injury woes. WCE, Ess and Carlton have the most work to do (over a 2yr look-back)

If Melbourne doesn't finish top 4 Goodwin won't see out his contract.
top 5?
In any case, flag coaches RARELY get sacked if team makes the top 8, which they should easily.

With a list decimated by injury and 5 or 6 losses decided by less than 2 goals. With a more favourable run we'll be much better, but again, not good enough to contend.

Hmmm.. a Showdown Final. :)

(Quick check of the 2023 ladder) Geelong: 12th.

If I could have a dollar for every time this has been predicted over the years....
Everyone who said it in 2022 offseason were right though. Geelong had a lot of injuries, but a lot of their talent is also the wrong side of 30. I have them in the 6-14 bracket.

Same.
Could easily be bottom 3, or just make top 8, such is the even comp
Hawks will continue to improve.
Hardwick is the ultimate opportunist, and I suspect he will get GC to climb.
Too many teams are difficult to rate.
Teams laden with talent like Bulldogs and Carlton should be in the 8, but we saw what happened to the Doggies.
Anybody who selects the 2024 top 8 in order, after finals, is an awesome judge or very arsey.

I desperately hope so, but I fear our reliance on sicily/Lewis. If either or both get hurt or suspended... oh dear.
You could say this about almost every side.
