Yeah that is bizarre, and incredibly pretentious, arrogant and insensitive of her.

Firstly - she doesn't know the circumstance around his passing. I'm sure it's very complicated, so for her to think she has a reason 3-4 days afterwards is very arrogant and insensitive.

Secondly, to insinuate that Perth has a toxic and drug culture as opposed to Sydney or Melbourne is ignorant and pretentious. Does she assume our whole squad is off the rails? And is she not aware of the issues Melbourne has been dealing with in the last 24 months.

The respectful thing for her to do, is to acknowledge the passing, and the man Cam was. Leave the rest of it alone. You can touch on the need to support players post their career. But that's it.
Bet she turned a blind eye when Dustin was up to all sorts in the heady days of Richmond's recent successes. Bunch of hypocrites

Just more pro-Vic bullshit from Caro. Reminds me when James Hird badly injured his face and some in Melbourne questioned whether Perth surgeons had sufficient expertise to operate. Like seriously they thought Perth was some backward third world hick town.
That was Brendan Gale, outgoing ceo of Richmond, heading to that bastion of head trauma surgeons Hobart.

Eh, local footy is on during Saturday arvos

Friday nights are easy to get to straight after work (if you work in the city)
As someone who has the luxury of getting on an empty bus to and from the game, getting packed like sardines in a train on Friday nights doesn’t really appeal to me.

Would love an away Friday night game for once.

Fell out of the 8 at the wrong time

Been given a lot of Garbo Saturday morning and Saturday arvo fixtures
If we were number one on the ladder we still wouldn’t have gotten more than 1 Friday night game.
Since this floating fixture came in they just shuffle them around to whatever big vic teams are on the up - this years it’s Essendon Carlton and the pies. Next year it’ll be someone different - the hawks will be back in there once they start winning a few games.

I do notice we have two 3:20 Sunday Avo games. I think they will be broadcast free to air on channel 7 nationally.
The Essendon game and the Melbourne game.
Pretty sure channel 7 show those games on FTA tv in Victoria. It’s not quite primetime but it’s not KAYO either

I'd be interested to see our win % for night games and compare to day games. We are renowned as a poor wet weather team and night games with the moisture is only one step away.

Give me Sunday arvo games if it means the team wins more!

That's confirmed. Both Sunday arvo games are Seven games.
It’s good to be getting channel 7 games for the club profile. Casual sports fans in Melbourne on a Sunday will be watching us now.
I reckon the hierarchy of games goes like this in terms of prestige:
1. Friday night on Channel 7 FTA (us next week v the pies. Very rare for freo over the years)
2. Thursday night on channel 7 FTA (not there for any club from rounds 15-23)
3. Saturday night footy on channel 7 (that’s us this weekend)
4. Sunday Avo footy on channel 7 FTA (the Essendon and Dees games later this year)

There is then a big gap to the rest of the games on KAYO. Within the kayo-only games I reckon it goes as follows from
Best to worst.
1. Saturday twilight footy
2. Sunday night footy (last game of the round)
3. Saturday night footy (on KAYO only, same time as the main channel 7 game. Recent derby was a good example)
4. Friday night footy on KAYO only (Sydney game last week)

The worst slot of the round is 1:45 on Saturday. That’s where you go when you are a bottom 6 side that no one in Vic gives a **** about. We are regulars here over the years sadly. The first game on a Sunday Avo is similar. A classic GWS v North spot.

One of the things I’ve noticed recently is the AFL like giving us these fake primetime Friday night and Saturday night games on KAYO only. Nobody is watching these games other than our own fans and the other team involved as all eyes are on whatever’s in primetime on Seven at the same time. Allows Travis Auld and co to say “you wanted Friday night games - here you go”.
The real benefit of the primetime slots on seven is the ability to get your club in front of mass eyeballs on a regular basis to grow the brand. Of course the comp is hopelessly biased towards big vic clubs in that regard and it will never change.

Swap 3 and 4. Seven are giving up a significant number of Saturday nights to Foxtel next broadcast rights deal in order to show more Sunday afternoon games.

Really? That’s intersting. So there won’t always be a FTA game on seven every Saturday night next year?

Yes first 8 rounds of the next deal Saturdays will be exclusively Fox except for marque games like ANZAC day or Dreamtime. Seven's broadcast games will be Thursday nights, Friday nights and Sunday arvos.

I don't at all disagree with your overall point about FTA coverage being important, but for me personally, 1:45 on Saturday is absolute perfection for attending the game.
Yeah for sure - what’s best for individuals is not necessarily the same as for the club.
It’s good for us to be on channel 7 though. Important way for the players and club to increase their profiles with the casual, non-big footy, sports fan.

I thought that was Brendon Gale. I know he made a similar state, ment and was roundly criticised by one and all.He mada goose of himself.
